In the middle is you.
I think line 4 says you can do some good for them, but it won't bring you personal happiness. I think line 6 shows you being happy that the ex contacted you.

When I see 60 on 2 occasions it makes me stop to think what is the measure or limit. It may be too personal to post here, but why did you ex contact you? Closure to the previous relationship or rekindle something or just being friendly?

In this case I get the impression you are joyous with the communication but there is some limit to the depth. Both by 12 and 60.
