A gift 38>41

We're all in isolation from one another in our area due to covid at the moment but I did manage to meet a little girl who's birthday it is today. I have a lot of little girls clothes I've sewn with plans to sell them but I'd like to give one as a gift to this little girl.
What do I need to know about the appropriateness of giving her the gift Hex38.4>41
This sounds like it would be happily accepted but what is Hex 41?

I know her grandfather a little bit and I asked him if it wasn't a bit weird because they're only acquaintances but he seemed to think it was fine. I'm just learning a new way to relate to people that's why I ask a lot of mundane questions.

It's a lovely idea.

As for 38.4 'learning a new way to relate to people' really seems to fit. Starting out vulnerable like an orphan and then meeting those of sympathetic disposition. Very healing.

Regarding the 41 I checked out what Hilary had to say about 38.4's connection to 41. I quote from her




'Opposed, alone.
Meet an inspiring man.
Joining together in trust,
Danger, no mistake.'

'Alone' also means 'orphan' - the one who is outside any family home.

Why dangerous? Maybe because you are making an offering, giving part of yourself up, while alienated and alone. Potentially even giving up your leadership of yourself in part, anyway. But what you give it up to has the potential to reconnect you with your own source. (But see LiSe's commentary[1] on this one.)

38 zhi Hexagram 41, Opposition's Offering.





41 is the offering, the gift that breaks through alienation.

I'm not that great at connecting to myself which I naturally means I'm not that great at connecting with others - I can see that now with all this counselling sessions I'm having.
So this reading certainly says that to me. I did give the little girl the gift today - her granddad asked me out as well, so we'll see what transpires!!
