Maybe I'm taking divination and the ideology that everything mean something a bit too far but this morning I came across half a rats face with its large intestine, spleen and stomach lined up in a row, some tuffs of fur but no bones or any other part. the viscera was all separate clean and neat, however it has been raining a lot lately so that's why it would be clean. It was a large rat and a healthy one.

I have been searching the internet for what different entrails might mean as I know this kind of divination was practiced at some point, but thats all I know.

Does anyone know of this kind of thing? Maybe more in terms of omen rather than divination?

The rat remains seem symbolic of your murdered neighbor.

The following morning of an evangelical visit by a local small church group, from whom I received some weird vibes, and whose invitation I refused, I found a beheaded rabbit at my front door. I began suspecting cult activity with this group (lotta weird people out here in there desert *cough*). Only later was I told this was normal behavior for a particular feral-worthy neighbor's tomcat. I was told by his owner that it was his gift, a sort of welcome to the neighborhood offering. I guess that also explained why the built-in planters became his loo. Or maybe he was paying rent-in-advance.

What does it all mean?

In spring, you can almost hear the bunnies multiplying, and they are either oblivious or suicidal, because they don't avoid trouble. The roads are sometimes dotted with road kill. I'd be in the loco tank if I entertained each one as a sign.

There was a particular time, during the Castaneda years, when I did interpret everything as an omen. I'd have been fried bacon, had I persevered with that any longer. A separate reality is something I accept just fine, but this reality is the one I live. It took Zen-like grounding to put things back into perspective.

dear chingching,
for me it's "difficult" to make divinations for other people without being on the place in the exact moment as i don't follow any "pre-organized" answer from litterature. beside, i find that sometimes others' omens can be good examples for learning how to "move" in understanding.

for example: few days ago i found a dead hedgehog in the middle of the street -i was travelling very slowly between rows of trees of the wood around there, i'd just left my sister' place. i went down to move it from there and i saw that it had no head, just some hair there. the message for me was: cut that poisoning kind of thinking of yours away, what's remaining? of course this had to do especially with that last week of life of mine.
as i was leaving for a long trip, i asked to receive a new omen before the next few km to decide if to keep on going or to go back to my sister place and remain one day more there; one minute later i saw a pheasant with his two very young ones eating and being careful to my car; they didn't run away, just moved in the safest place, on the side of the street and kept eating nicely :)
so my two kids and i kept travelling forward while singing and chatting and chanting till we reached our house! :)

Thanks for sharing your stories,

but um... I was asking what is the name of divinating from animal entrails.

like Apantomancy is the chance meeting with animal which is kind of what I'm talking about but not, because the animal was dead , boneless ...just viscera left.

zoomancy is when you gather animals and put them on the floor watch what they do and divine from that etc.

what is the -mancy of looking at entrails and what means what, as in hexagram 1 means the creative, what does spleen of rat mean? (I figured out it was actaully a possum.) I wont be surprised if noone knows about this because I couldn't find it anywhere on google.

sooo, I agree I see dead possums all the time too. But as I said in my post it was the unusualness of the separated organs, their neat line and the absence of bones, blood, or any other flesh.

I see dead animals all the time but not like this. And I dont usually ascribe meaning to them. But as Pocossin has pointed out, this is only standing out for me because of current events.

But am not wanting a reading from this neegula, just wanted to know if anyone knew what the -mancy was for animal entrails. Just discussing divination... not sharing a reading, does that make sense?
