A Trip to Overseas, Now Cancelled

Hi!
I was planning an overseas trip with the intention to make (mainly but not only) professional contacts and of course to enjoy some days in a different place. A colleague of mine who already lives there offered me his house for accommodation and also said he would help me with some guidance around a city i’ve never been before.
Thing is I was feeling something wrong; I wasn’t feeling I was going to be welcome to stay at his house - for different reasons.
Today I’ve had a conversation with this colleague and somehow I felt that our friendship has gone surprisingly stale.
I decided to cancel my trip.
So I asked the IChing if I did it right by doing this and I asked for some advice.
The hexagram is 21.1 > 35.
I see this as a yes. I needed some sort of energic attitude so I could be certain of my plans. And I feel strangely relieved for canceling the trip - I don’t want to stay where I’m not welcome.
Do you have any other thoughts on this? I’d love to read them.

I agree totally you did the right thing. The line suggests restrictions that prevent you from making a mistake. This leads to hexagram 35 which to me has almost always been really positive.

Wing: Since this is only your first departure from the right path, only a mild punishment is forthcoming. This should serve the purpose of early Reform.

As matter of interest did you lose anything other than the friendship like the deposit on an airfare or something. The line can suggest a mild loss or punishment but nothing major.
Like a slap on the wrist.

Yes, the hexagram confirms what my intuition was already whispering.
Now, regarding the 'mild punishment' itself: I only had to pay a small fee, which I was fairly happy to do it ; )
