Hello all,
I haven't log since a long while but I'm reading you very often and I learn a lot from you.
Since many year readings and psychic stuff are a part of my life, I take advice and I give advice too.
I'm not going to tell the whole story but I got my first cards readings when I was a child, family stuff. It has been also a small part of my teenaged-hood and a big part of my adulthood.
It has been an addiction and a coping mechanism since many years.
I Ching too, even if I respect the I Ching I feel that I have a compulsive bad use of him.
I could write about the relationship to all of this for hours. It's really really deep in me and I know it is wrong.
tonight I was thinking about many things and I ask the I Ching 3 questions:

Should I stop totally fortune telling? I got 2.1 to 24
Should I continue fortune telling? I got 23.2.4.5 to 6
What use can I continue to have with the I Ching? 27 unchanging

I guess continuing with 23.2.4.5 will be a destroying internal conflict with some favor time to time but 6 suggest to stop half way.
With 2.1 it suggest that I can feel the first signs of something wrong and I must go back to myself and my own receptivity.
For 27 unchanging I have always hard time to understand unchain hexagram.
I looked at cafe o soul interpretation:

Nourishing vision = unaware of its manifestation. Without changing lines this can be a message about the need to look at your desires. It can also suggest that you reap what you sow. You have your heart set on something but your insecurity may reveal itself in the mirror of what unfolds. Spending so much time thinking about negative outcomes has created a negative environment for you. If you want to experience life differently break out of your pattern of negativity and do a spring cleaning in your mind. Once all of the cobwebs have been cleared away, make a commitment to cultivate an open and non judgmental outlook daily. Slow down and relax. Spend a day just smiling and see how the world reacts to you. Reboot your mind into openness and watch the world open to you. Perhaps you have noticed this negativity in the 'mirror' of interactions with others? How you meet the world determines how it will respond to you. Examine the object of your desire to see if it is truly what will nourish you.

My use of I Ching is fed from negativity and nourish my negativity for sure. Not always but most of the time. I think I have to really ask my self what I ask and what I integrate.

Anyway, I know all of this is not very wise like. I hope someone give me his interpretation or a confirmation of my understanding.

Thank you.

Hello,
Your message contains your problem and its solution since you detail everything that can get you out of your negativity: do a spring cleaning in your mind, relax, stay open to the world... Why do you feel negative?

2.1 – 24: Is it a step to come back to yourself when you do not feel positive enough to give a reading to someone. Return to a positive state before practicing.

23 – 6: this certainly reflects your problem, you feel in conflict with yourself. It doesn't mean to stop but to take a break perhaps. 23 represents stillness and receptiveness. 6 The conflict also requires a halt, not to push for the moment. But line 5, there is help somewhere coming in, good advice or a mediator, a friend?

27: the search for your food, to please you. Be attentive to your words too. Develop your consciousness, humanistic values, quality in your clairvoyance. Develop activities that put a smile on your face, have fun, love 🧘‍♀️

I was confused by your post which I think is partly you and partly someone else's writing. It appears as if you are quoting someone but it looks like a continuation of your own writing but it isn't. I mean this

That sounds to me like another author especially as that person is writing to someone else....ah hang on you did say
I looked at cafe o soul interpretation:

Do you know who wrote that though? To use quotation marks, all you need to do is highlight the quote and then click the inverted commas in the tool bar in the reply box you write in. This makes it clear to us we are now reading a quote. This is a commentary in any case, it's not the I Ching but someone's ideas about it and here in your case it's completely misleading and 27 here has nothing to do with 'negativity' at all it's just the writer's take on it.

Interesting questions anyway.

Perhaps you could say in what way you think it's wrong? I'm not sure if you mean it's a wrong thing to do in itself or whether you mean you find you just rely on it too much and you aren't happy with that anymore.
Should I stop totally fortune telling? I got 2.1 to 24
Yi says

'Treading on frost,
Hard ice in the end.'

Yes, I think you're slowing down and will probably stop altogether for a while perhaps while you reset yourself (24). There's an inevitability to this line, what is showing signs of occurring now will be more in evidence later.

I wouldn't say the I Ching is fortune telling exactly, I see it as more of a personal orientation guide, a map, something to help you know where you are in relation to things more than predictive. Predictive aspects are mostly a byproduct of looking at that map.

You asked 'should I' rather than 'will I' and I've taken it that you will or the feelings that make you uncomfortable with it will become more pressing until either you rethink entirely what divination is actually for or you stop. Prediction is really often not half as useful as gaining insight and understanding.

Should I continue fortune telling? I got 23.2.4.5 to 6
It looks like your whole orientation to 'fortune telling' needs an overhaul, needs to die perhaps because there's something else there needing expression in 6. I don't know what that is but it would feel like you can't continue on in the same way but it might be a case of actually learning different ways of approaching divination.

What use can I continue to have with the I Ching? 27 unchanging
27uc asks what is necessary and needed? And that is what you are asking 'what use can I have with I Ching' and I Ching says back 'well what do you need me for? Use me when you have a need or necessity'. And that's not as dismissive as it sounds because it's asking you to think for a while before consulting why you need to ask. I think Hilary once suggested with questions asking oneself, 'I'm asking so I can....' Think of all the reasons one asks such as

I ask so I can understand the factors more
I ask so I can have a feel for the way things are going
I ask to find out if I am acting correctly here
I ask to find out what my role is here

All that is pure 27, what I need, things I want. So Yi is saying 'use me when you have a need and also articulate that need' 27 does ask you to be clear about your appetites and mind what you feed them with. Eating just for fun is generally not a very good idea as an ongoing habit since it seeks to bypass the needs of the actual body in favour of sensation. It's better most of the time to eat when hungry and it is the same when using Yi I think. If one eats for pleasure all the time health will suffer since then we have corrupted the appetite away from it's function of determining the body's real need for food. We can get really out of touch with our actual appetite and our bodies needs and it's just the same with connection with Yi and divination I think. When you are hungry and eat the food tastes good, tastes real and when you are hungry for wisdom then Yi's communication is so much clearer.

It's for you to decide what is a necessary question. Small things can still feel necessary if you have the need to gain insight but be wary of superstitious thinking in asking for many predictions especially if they mean you limit your options. Also I think 27 says to use 'horses for courses' that is use the right nourishment for the question. If I want to know if a shop is open tomorrow I can look online, if I want to know if my medicine interferes with another medicine I can ask the chemist, use Yi for things Yi can help you gain insight with but don't use it in place of getting factual knowledge where it's available.

Perhaps you could drop the fortune telling and learn more about divination instead? I don't think Yi is fortune telling.
