I asked what to expect if we attended an event. The response was: 22.1.3.6 > 2.

When we got there, we discovered that the event was tomorrow. We were there on the wrong night.

I'd like to say something about the pattern of all the yang lines changing to yin lines --

If hexagram 22 signifies a performance, then I think all yang lines changing to yin lines signifies that our anticipations were in vain; there would be no performance.

I experienced the same thing with hexagram 37 in 2010 regarding discord caused by issues of inheritance: hexagram 37.1.3.5.6 > 2. All the rules seemed to have been thrown out the window and family members were quarreling openly. All dormant hostilities and anxieties seemed to erupt simultaneously, like a bomb going off ... There was no family feeling anymore.

I have also seen 30.1.3.4.6 > 2. The ones we cling to, our closest relationships, blasted. Can the links be re-formed? Is it worth the effort? "With friends like this, we don't need enemies."

And what about 27.1.6 > 2? Certainly it signifies that what we are asking will result in disturbances in food and nourishment.

In these times, relationships and arrangements have a tendency to fall apart due to the stresses we are all under. This only highlights for us the enormous strength of Hexagram 2, supremely blessed, earth above and earth below.

The broad earth holds and carries all these human travails, and many others, no matter what form they take, even the most dire. And so we may always return to the strength of the earth, I think, by judging nothing.

dear ginnie,

I dont have enough experience to advice anybody, but my experience with 2 as a resultant hexagram has always been positive.
Like 4.2.6>2, here we also have all yang lines changing to yin, but outcome for me was very good.
I think that in 22.1.3.6 Yi was telling you that you will be just an add-on in you go that night on performance. But with perseverance and with following (2) you will finally enjoy and your anticipations were not in vain...

Yes, sometimes it is better for us in the long run if something gets blasted away or is not there as expected.

The text of hexagram 2 says that at first we will go the wrong way but then later we will find the right way, more by following than by leading.

Hex.2 might mean that staying in your own "field", not becoming part of the trouble, is the solution to these kind of things. Don't expect an exciting event, don't quarrel when others do so, don't fight back but either give in or stay aloof.

As advice it is positive.

I'm so glad you posted this, Heylise: "not becoming part of the trouble." Letting everyone just be who they are. Letting situations just be what they are.
