hi ! just wanted to introduce myself to this little community and start with a reading to get the party going! I got 42 (Increase) when I asked whether I would pass a little upcoming audition.
However, I'm new to I ching :bows: and I was puzzled by the whole changing lines thing..
It looked like this

I think I ching is accurate so I'd be interested to learn what I can!

well twilight it's complicated, it's a distance audition. they've told me that 1 guy stands out so far, but they've not seen my stuff yet! i'm proud of what i've done but i guess i lack confidence and i'm seeking confirmation that things will go well..

P.S. You say it would be pointless to further examine it because it won't be what I want to hear. Of course everyone wants the positive viewpoint, but I am hear to learn also. I'm not scared by what you have to say if you want to comment on that card. After all, there are always other opportunities and I am actively looking for them.

I can't do any better than my best and that's what I've done. If they like it they'll take me, if not then I'll try again somewhere else. It's not the end of the world. I guess I want to know whether they're the right people for me.. if not, then nothing's lost if I don't manage it. :bows:

You may be fated, after all, to interact with the I Ching on a superficial level, later giving it up for tealeaves or something.

That's just plain rude..

As for the question whether there's a future. Ask the runes. But if I can borrow from your philosophy - you might "give that up for tealeaves" yourself

..but it's not clear who it will happen to or what form it will take. The oracle you received suggests that something bad will happen, but that, strangely perhaps, it will not be a calamity.

For educational purposes, can you tell me which line/what implies that it won't be a calamity?
If I could interpret on a less intense level, death is a calamity especially from the viewpoint of the family and friends involved, so it would be nice if we could rule that out, especially as the card is "nothing to get too excited about" ?

The basis card is Increase. On another note, could it also imply that if I were to get the part then it would be an opportunity but not be actually be good for me? As in : wrong kind of crowd to be with. Just a thought. This could be the reason why I want to know about things: forewarned is forearmed and if it can be avoided then.. good

Hi julee,

Your initial hexagram is 42, then after the two lines (1st and 3rd) change,
the situation is heading towards hexagram 53. Both 42 and 53 are positive,
and the two changing lines are positive as well, although there is some
warning in line 3.

42 - "INCREASE. It furthers one To undertake something." That means
it's a good move to go through the audition, and it is favoured by time.
42:1 - "It furthers one to accomplish great deeds. Supreme good fortune.
No blame." A really good auspice. Right time to ascend from the bottom
upwards.
42:3 - "One is enriched through unfortunate events. No blame, if you are
sincere And walk in the middle, And report with a seal to the prince." It
does sound as if there's going to be some 'unfortunate event' at some
point. This line also tells you how to deal with it so that you actually
benefit ('enriched') from it. By being sincere. Also by "walking in the
middle" (this could be either metaphorical, or literal - does your audition
have anything to do with walking? with middle? if not then that's
metaphorical, meaning, focused in conduct). There are a few lines that
in my experience refer to computers, but i've never experienced 42:3 so
far! It speaks of reporting with a seal, or in another translation "jade
credential". Just wondering, because you said something about distance.
Please let us know if this proves to be the case! (ie if the jade credential
has something to do with computers in the end).
53 - "DEVELOPMENT. The maiden Is given in marriage. Good fortune.
Perseverance furthers." This speaks of slow and steady progress. So, either
you'll get it, and then slowly but surely progress. Or you won't get it but
end up married lol In any case 53 is a good auspice too.
