“Chinese archeologists have unearthed what is believed to be the oldest known playable musical instrument,” wrote Henry Fountain in a 1999 New York Times article on the discovery of “a seven-holed flute fashioned 9,000 years ago from the hollow wing bone of a large bird.

A thought I got on this: the hunters used theese flutes to simulate birds song to attract and trap or kill birds and animals hunting those.

Wow! This is an interesting take. I've noticed in Shared Readings, people have gotten this line for something painful and don't understand how it connects. I never quite got it either in relation to my own casts. This is definitely worthy of exploring. Thank you for dropping this breadcrumb.
