And on that note...

It's Thanksgiving here in the US, a day to give thanks for the many good things in our lives. With a lot to be thankful for in my life, Clarity stands out as a great resource for wit, wisdom, growth, support, fun, sharing and insight for me and many fellow I Chingers.

So, I'll just post this THANK YOU to all the Clarity friends who make this place what it is and *especially* to Hilary for creating and maintaining it.

Someone special shared a thought with me today. Please take the terms good and bad within context.

When we casually consider our immediate condition, what is bad is greatly more top-of-mind than what is good. Bad makes itself known to us because it is more intrusive upon our senses. What is good is generally not noticed because it is usually quietly running in the background of our consciousness. ?My head hurts? arises before ?my back feels good?.

In marketing theory, a bad impression lasts 7 times longer and imbeds into consciousness deeper than a good one. That?s why negative ads are so prevalent in advertising. It?s more than just a mean strategy. It works!

Thanksgiving is a ritual which shifts our natural tendency to fix what is wrong, and focus entirely on what is right.
