Airline ticket reimbursement: 40.2.3.5 and 31

Long story made short, I need to ask my boss if, instead of paying for my airfare to the offsite, the company will pay the change fee on my current tickets which would be cheaper for them and much easier to do (for me). However its not typical company procedure. I asked "Show me outcome if I ask for ticket reimbursement fee rather than regular ticket."

40.2.3.5 and 31 Wooing.

line 5: If only the superior man can deliver himself, It brings good fortune. Thus he proves to inferior men that he is in earnest.

Some interpretations of those lines:
Line 2: With firm correctness there will be good fortune. (go ahead and ask)

Line 3: However firm and correct he may (try to) be, there will be cause for regret.
A man made wealthy suddenly tempts robbers bc he doenst know how to handle the wealth. (Sparhawk, Aug. 2007 post) “The line changes the hexagram into 32. As its judgment says, one better have a Plan B in place to ride opportunities to full term. Having 32 in mind when jumping on the wagon will help avoid a lot of headaches...”
(ask but be careful HOW you do it?)

Line 5: there will he good fortune, and confidence in him will be shown even by the small men.

31. Hsien / Influence (Wooing)
jUdgement: Influence. Success. Perseverance furthers. To take a maiden to wife brings good fortune.
The Image: A lake on the mountain: The image of Influence. Thus the superior man encourages people to approach him By his readiness to receive them.

Any thoughts? Is this a "yes go ahead"? It seems fairly positive and the hex 31 seems to only point to success. Am I on target here?

Is it really such a vital question? Maybe now you just need to trust yourself and go with the flow from previous readings? Don't get frozen into relying on the IC - something I get caught up in once in a while...Just a thought. I'm only a hare after all...

At first I thought I didn't have a feeling to get into this question because I didn't really understand the issue, I was sort of burned out from so much I Ching, etc. etc. But then this morning your mother's telling you, "We'll work something out." popped into my thinking. So now I'm wondering if possibly the reason no one here feels they have any insight for you is because this puzzel is one meant for you and your mom. It doesn't really involve her so there shouldn't be any tension. You're just asking her for her advice, but by the two of you sorting this one out together you'll get a chance to connect on a Friend level and this may give you tools for approaching the other issues on a Friend rather than parent/child level too.

Wow, well that puts a lot into perspective. I had not ever imagined that my "work" problems were actually an outlet in which to resolve the mother issue(s), but it seems that the universe is creating this opportunity (!?) for me. I hadn't seen it that way at all though...

One thing, about the air travel and staying with my parents. My boss wrote back "thanks for beign willing to stay w/your parents" (translation: thanks for assuming the company hotel expenses and saving us money). More than one person tells me I am prostituting myself for this company. In principle i disagree with my boss expecting me to forego a hotel simply bc i have relatives in the area. I do not consider it a professional request. But per trojan's interpretation (on the other thread), I would gain nothing by refusing his request, as the issue would arise again in the future. So I hope I'm taking the higher road, although I can say it's unfair that people earning four times my salary (and who could afford the hotel on their own) will not be paying for a hotel or inconvenienced by sleeping on a cousin's couch... and yet i'm expected to do so. Sorry to digress as this relates to the other thread. But it relates to this one as well-- I resolved the air line ticket issue today by simply booking a round trip that I will only use half of. The company would save money if they were to reimburse me a simple change fee on my existing ticket, but that isnt company policy... I have the worst feeling I"m making the wrong steps with these very fragile POLITICAL issues inside my corporation. I've never been in this position before and the whole parent issue just exacerbates it (or maybe the other way around).
