I have been reading the experiences on hexagram 44, line 2. Some thoughts I collected: back off from situation; not a good time for socialising. And then there's this quote from Blofeld's --- not dutiful to our guests.
The situation with me has a literal guest situation connected to it, and, in this case, the guest has been put in a very difficult situation by the host.
Is it possible that my cast is a literal one? Or am I misunderstanding the I, and Blofeld?

Yes, it's possible it's literal.

As you've probably noticed, different authors translate slightly differently. Hilary says, "Not fruitful to entertain guests."

It might - or might not - be easier to tell how to see it with some more information about the situation, if you feel you can say any more.

I have approached the different translations in the light of my cast as: by no means socialize
Then it is clear!
Thank you Liselle
