Hello all!

The past 3 years, I've been in a terrible, overcrowded home environment that's become a huge danger to my spiritual and emotional health. I live with immediate and extended family members where gossip, rumors, slander, anger, backstabbing and other unhealthy emotions are the norm. It's rare that there's a peaceful day where there's no shouting match going on over something stupid and petty. I've been desperate to move out on my own again throughout this challenging time because a lot of things I want to achieve in my life are completely undermined by this toxic living arrangement. I feel as though I can't breathe or be myself anymore.

I asked the I Ching "Please give me insight into my current home life situation" and recieved Hex 23/2.6 turning into 7. I was very encouraged by the 6th line which seems to imply a possible new opportunity on the horizon for me. But how does Hex 7 Army apply to my situation? Some say it's about being around likeminded people while others say it talks about integrity and honesty...

Hexagram 7 shows you how to address this issue. This hexagram describes the fight against addiction, against depression and against stress. To do that you need discipline, get up early, clean around, etc... and continuity, so keep doing that in the long term.

So, don't let yourself go, even if you are in a hostile environment you need to show some will to overcome your problems.

There are two ways to interpret this: you cannot accept the rupture but you can improve your life with discipline, or you can accept the rupture and get out of here, but you will need a lot of discipline.

The second way is more difficult. Think of it as getting rid of an addiction to smoking, you can fight it by showing some discipline and smoke less, or you can fight it by stopping completely.

Take the path that fits your resources and resolution.

23 - Erosion

Decline that one can control by using their reserves.

2 - Support that cannot be used anymore.

6 - One accepts the rupture. They will obtain support and means of action.
In the making
7 - The will

To solve their problems, one will need discipline and continuity.

Thank you so much taoscopy :) It's funny you bring up that analogy about smoking. 4 years ago I was smoking heavily (for about a year) and it got to be so bad that one day I just got fed up and quit cold turkey. I also started a fast/body detox around that same time so quitting smoking seemed so logical and easy to do in that moment. I haven't smoked a cigarette since! I guess sometimes when you're in such a bad situation, you get to the point where you have no other choice but to call it quits and start over fresh..
