Most of my friends and people I have met as I travel around house sitting are in very good financial positions actually this includes my youngest son who is not yet 30 and has bought his first home.
Each person I talk to about their financial position says over the years they have just taken advantage of opportunities that came their way.
Personally I have lived in survival mode for most of my life due to undiagnosed PTSD which makes for poor decision-making skills amongst other mental and emotional issues. Once I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2017 I went on a major healing journey and feel confident in having the strength to make better decisions and not live in survival mode anymore.
Now it's come to my attention that there's a lack of childcare centres in a lot of the areas I have travelled, but particularly where I would like to settle. Actually, in the news, there was an article that 39 childcare centres have closed over the country mainly because of poor treatment and poor wages.
About a month ago I applied for a job which was a minefield in itself but, I did get offered a job and signed a contract to start work yesterday. There has been a particular red flag that this could again be a toxic workplace. The area manager wanted me to start work ASAP but as I said to her the contract didn't start until the 19th of December because I wasn't in the area. She basically threatened to not give me any shifts over the holiday break which is for the next 4 to 6 weeks.
At this stage she has followed through and I have no evidence of any Shifts on the companies online roster system.
Is this now an opportunity steering me to open my own home based childcare business???
There are a number of potentially affordable and suitable homes for this opportunity to work.

What do I need to know about my idea of starting my own home based childcare business

Hex 12.3.6>31

Embracing shame Line 3 kind of resonates with me a little, to be my age and be in the financial position I'm in and essentially homeless with no prospects for the future.
Line 6 shows me overturning any obstacles and being successful with my idea.
Hexagram 31 is the attraction I feel to going ahead with this idea as it will not only give me permanent employment but also a permanent residence.
There's an organisation that I would have to be connected with as governing body for this kind of business.

I think you're right on the money, straight down the line with this one. I confess that my interpretation might be colored by my strong identification or resonance with your situation. I'm also about to become homeless (having to move in with a friend's), broke at 60, and recently self-diagnosed with cPTSD. And I was actually about to cast the I Ching myself about a question similar to yours, when I decided I'd hop over here to see if there were any interesting readings. This qualifies.

12.3's derived hexagram is 33, Retreat, which represents a moment where an accomplished being steps away without bitterness from an inferior being. Reading your story I felt a sense of rightness of the battle you'd have to fight to get your hours back on the schedule; but with the third paragraph, "Now it's come to my attention..." the tenor of the situation changes, and the obstreperous manager fades away in view of the far wider and more rewarding prospect of starting a much-needed childcare business.

12.6 is a reversal, where the old order topples away, and a new happier day dawns. Jiminy Cricket, does the I Ching get any more encouraging?

With your last sentence, you show that you're already thinking ahead to the requirements of your relating hexagram 31, which to me symbolizes the "love at first sight" aspect, like a shock of recognition at the business opportunity that's kind of a crystalization, where the shape of things to come seems to fall so beautifully into place, because you're pulled along by desire and feeling. In order for the excitement of 31 to last, and endure into something worthy and stable (represented by the next hexagram in the sequence, 32), there are details to master, processes and roles to be defined for mutual benefit. So my take on this is that the oracle is saying you go for it! connect with that governing body. Your entrepreneurial impulse is leading you towards something really cool and beautiful.

Perhaps consider one possible "shadow" side of 12.3 though (especially if you feel financially wronged by that mean manager)—a tendency to shy away from asking for what you want, deserve, or need—the shame you mentioned. Maybe you could ride that painful and inappropriate situation (12 as a whole), by maintaining the tension of the opposites for a little while (a few months?)—wanting to leave, seeing an opportunity where your strengths would be recognized and benefit the world, yet also aware of a "stuck" feeling (12.3) when it comes to having to enforce your boundaries, so making yourself stay, and calmly seeking to get some shifts, in order to get a longer financial runway for your true heart's desire.

Thank you Serendiplomat, your words help a lot! Yes I remember your thread and story a few months ago. I hope things are improving for you??
It would be a good idea to get shifts if I can unless and until I can get my business up and running but I'm not holding my breath nor allowing it to upset me, nor getting indignant about her unfair and stupid behaviour. All reactions I would have had in the past.
Her name incidentally, is Karen 😂

For me 12 speaks to a place of disharmony and stagnation and calls for an inner stock check to really understand what is going on. A good question to ask yourself is "What really, really is really, actually unconsciously going on here?" The winding corridors of 12 can be a place of knee jerk reaction resulting, if there is no real discernment, in overly grand ideas or behaviours.

12.3: Sits at the threshold of our inner world. Shame and embarrassment may well be kicking around here however this time we see them and we may not have to necessarily dance to their tune. Anyway, if not them who is playing the tune to which we are dancing?
12.6: Speaks to a theme of giving things space. Allow things to develop at their own pace and everything will be hunky dory.

When the stock check is complete then you'll be better placed to understand if the stimulation (31) you have been tasting has a healthy or unhealthy flavour.

Thanks my_key....such a reflection of where I've got to over the last few days. I understand a lot of why etc.
I've put feelers out but not taking much action because as you've said who's tune am I/will I be dancing to and I'm just waiting to see what pans out without me trying to control the outcome.
