Oi, the pressures of Christmas--wanting to make it nice for teens, who are beyond the Santa-believing years.;)

My wife and I thought of getting our kids coats for Christmas, but are now worried they will be disappointed in that kind of gift. In years' past, we were able to get them their first laptop, shared between the two of them. So now we're thinking of a PS4, which we know would be a nice surprise as they both want one, but we worry we're acting out of desperation and won't be a wise financial purchase right now.

So I asked 'Should we get the kids a PS4 for Christmas this year?' and got 35.3 -> 56, which appears to be a good reading. What do y'all think?

Hey there

A fair question as we are talking about kids happiness or whether or not they may go cold, however the line seems to say that the PS4 is ok as long you and your wife both agree and make the decision jointly, I wouldnt be homer simpson and just go and buy it. You could always get coats from an op shop or something maybe look around l, so lets face it , if you were a kid what would you prefer?
You may have relatives that could get the coats as well:D

Thats what I say anyway,

Merry Xmas
Steve

Thanks for the replies, Steve & Olga. Apologies for the long delay in responding.

We got the coats in the end, which the kids both liked. And then some time after Christmas we happened to mention to my son our dilemma from weeks before, as he (& his sister) still wanted a PS4, so he & I went halves on buying one. Later when he went off to uni, he wanted to take the PS4 with him, but his sister still used it (and so did I occasionally ;) ), so I bought out his half and he used the money to buy a good-condition, secondhand one to take with him.

So a happy ending for all!
