I asked the I Ching: "What is still standing in the way preventing my dream from coming true?" and received Hexagram 6 Line 1 > 10

Now I am a bit confused ... does this mean

a) I should stop it all and drop my dream and that I'll be happy in the end that I dropped it ????

or

b) does it mean that I need to stop thinking and worrying about my dream coming true all the time cos in the end it will all be good (cos the ''gossip reference often means thinking and worrying things to death)

I'd be very very thankful for help and advice

love and light

I believe that option "b" is the closest one.

In fact, you ask what is the obstacle which prevents your creative power from being effective, and the oracle points to an umbalanced line in the Creative. The only lines where the power of the dragon is of real use in hex 1 are the second and the fifth. At "man" level, lines 3 and 4, some very "human" concerns are blocking it: anxiety in line 3, doubt in line 4.
Line 3 is concerned about danger, risk of making mistakes, fear of failure etc. Neverthless, it doesn't say your concerns are out of place and you should stop worrying altogether; on the contrary, in this time and condition, your commitment automatically involves concerns, and this prevents from mistakes. The matter is a big one, it's like a tiger, so it's important to be extremely careful about hou you act and move -- especially, to have great respect for the matter itself and not to violate due rites and form.

It's ok to have some anxiety here, provided that it doesn't overcome you nor makes you lose the real size and proportions of things. Just stay alert and focused and you can be effective, spot the real problems and find timely solutions or corrections to them.
Don't look for more certainty than is really possible and stay true to yourself. Don't try to act before the right moment.

Yes Hexagram 6 with the FIRST line moving ... it confuses me very much

HEXAGRAM 6
Line-1

Legge: The first line, magnetic, shows its subject not perpetuating the matter about which the contention is. She will suffer the small injury of being spoken against, but the end will be fortunate.

Wilhelm/Baynes: If one does not perpetuate the affair, there is a little gossip. In the end, good fortune comes.

Blofeld: Provided that affairs are not pressed through to the end and that as little as possible is said about them, they will end propitiously.

Liu: One does not continue the affair (conflict). Even if there is some gossip, good fortune in the end.

Ritsema/Karcher: Not a perpetual place, affairs. The small possesses words, completing significant.

Shaughnessy: Not permitting where it serves; there are a few words; in the end auspicious.

Cleary (1): One does not persist forever in an affair. There will be a little criticism, but it will turn out well.

Wu: Contention can never produce results. Although there are small talks about him, the outcome will be auspicious.

What is still standing in the way preventing my dream from coming true?
6.1 > 10

Hexagram 6, in my opinion, is about a temporary defeat and withdrawal. Recovery of lost territory is the reason this hexagram is followed by The Army. Cowardness is suspected when an army gives ground, thus gossip, rumors, and critical reports. (The lower trigram relates to the ear.) In your case the gossip is probably internal, the discouraging stories you tell yourself. Treading suggests that what is standing in the way of your dream is that you need to take a different course. I think your dream is to return to acting, but you have experience in public speaking that is applicable in many areas. Volunteer as a spokesperson for a charity or a cause. Look for work in public relations or advertising. Keep yourself moving and your skills fresh. When we are active, opportunities that we would otherwise never find cross our path.

I take it that there is this pressure to accomplish something and also a lot of worrying. This is not the clearest line in the I Ching, but I think the part about not pushing or forcing any more is rather clear ...

wow you really hit the nail on the head Pocossin ... (except the return to acting part .. I did return as the I Ching and you said about my reading way back then .. it went very well )
but yes back to my dream .. I do indeed drive myself nuts with it ... thinking back and forth... positive... negative,... impatient ... full of doubt ...

To lay this question to rest, it might be helpful to ask Yi what it thinks of your dream.:bows:

If the inner disagreement becomes settled, you are better prepared to deal with outside disagreements. So I agree with your own interpretation.

It's sort of cliche by now but John Lennon's 'life is what happens while we are making other plans' really fits.

What would the outcome of that trip be, do you think? There's still time to learn and change.

Confusion is usually some disagreement within, which leads to disagreement without. So again your "stop thinking and worrying about your dream all the time" sounds like a great bottom line to your question.

Sometimes the symbolism of ones dream doesn't manifest for several years. Not speaking of ordinary dreams, but the rarer ones, that break through and speak of deeply personal yet Universal things; things which create change in ones life. The end is the result of our presence along the way. Knowing this, we can alter our course before the end, should we choose or even wish to. But wherever we tread to, there will we be. I think it's as simple as that.
