Connection? 38.5 > 10 & 10.5 > 38

Hi All,

I had occasion to cast the following readings recently, and was struck by the parallelism involved. I don't know enough to understand exactly what this pair of readings might suggest, so I am hoping the thoughtful folks here can provide some insight.

Does he love her? : 38.5 > 10

The very next cast was:

Does she love him? : 10.5 > 38

The two were involved in a romantic relationship some time ago, which (obviously) didn't work out. Clearly there is a great deal of inherent conflict between them because they are such different people, but I am not very comfortable with the interpretations of hex 10, or how these readings tie together to create a fuller picture of how these two interact.

What do these readings suggest about the past/present connection between these two people?

just off the top of my head, I'd say that he felt he was getting something really valuable from his connection to her, despite their differences (them being a reason he might have felt they needed to be careful not to step on each other's toes?)

The other reading, which is the fan yao of the first, shows her feeling that perhaps she had to protect her individuality, or, step up about it . . or maybe her connection to him strengthened her sense of individuality. The line has an element of defiance in it, of going about one's own mind despite the odd looks one gets - letting one's freak flag fly, so to speak. Or maybe she felt that he didn' t really 'get her' in some ways, or he could be too powerful/overpowering so she felt she needed to be guarded (?) . .


just my impressions about them.

I don't think the readings show anything specific about future potential, but there is an intriguing symmetry about them - a yin&yang pattern . .

Thank you so much for your answer, rodaki. I found some reading online regarding fan yao, and it is interesting stuff, even if I don't completely grasp all of the intricacies.

I also think that your take on the lines was very appropriate. His tendency to need control rankled her quite a bit, apparently, and he is upfront with her to this day regarding how she was a meaningful person in his life.

If anyone else has a take on this unusual pair of readings, I would be most interested.

thanks for the feedback - it helps to know when things make sense both ways. I often think of the fan yao as turning a piece of clothing inside out, of looking at it exposing its seams, so to speak

O, didn't read really well.
But since I think you are both wonderful with the Yi, it doesn't matter that much.
It was the post about 38.5 being too controlling. It solved a puzzle for me.
