Considering selling my home - 3:3 > 63

I'm in some financial straights and am now considering selling my home. I received hexagram 3 with line 3 changing with 63 the relating hexagram.

I'm not quite clear what I'm supposed to do. From what I've gathered from various resources that in line 3 that I'm supposed to wait for help from a resource (a hunter guiding me through the forest) to help in this endeavor for things to work out. Is the hunter referred to here a real estate agent?

On the other hand, I'm also under the impression that I shouldn't do anything at all right now because things are out of alignment.

Any thoughts on this?

For a start it says the market is down, so not a good time to be putting your house up for sale, as you will either be unable to sell or get some silly offers.

The forest referred to here would be the housing market, and therefore you would need a very reliable estate agent.

One thing that seems to come up clearly here is that you will have to be very careful to go through the right channels. You will need to find someone you really can trust, and make sure the finances are all worked out by an expert that you can trust. There may be hints here of an attempt at fraud.

Can't See the Forest for the Trees

This line depicts one of those little scenes ( Hilary calls them miniature vignettes ) that are found here and there in the text. It speaks of a deer that is about to enter into the forest, thus getting away from the hunter. The chinese character that is sometimes translated as 'guide' or 'forester', yu2, also has other meanings that should be explored. My view is that this line is indicating that an opportunity is about to slip away and the hunter should act without hesitation or risk losing the deer. Just exactly what opportunity this points to is best understood by you.

Try to consider why the I Ching has framed its answer within the context of Hex 3, Difficulty at the Beginning, where has this come from? It's not there by accident, and why is the Zhi Gua Hex 63, Settled?

Hex 3 is about difficult, but transitional, situations in which everything seems to be falling apart. Wagons and horses come apart, man and wife start to fall apart. It describes a situation of confusion and dismay in which factors and components that should be working together in cohesion start to split and fail. Now look at your difficult financial/life circumstances and ask yourself - has it really come to this, that I must sell my house, or is this hexagram really describing my state of mind?

The idea of selling your house is a symptom of your inner attitude falling apart - it is your wagon and horse no longer pulling together, it is part of your confusion and dismay brought on by difficult, but not impossible, circumstances.
And in the middle of this context the I Ching is giving you its advice - don't go there, listen to the I Ching, your guide. Try asking it again, - should I go ahead and sell my house?

The Zhi Gua, Hex 63, Settlement, is about maintaining stability, emptying the mind of unstable mundane consciousness and embracing the mind of Tao. Think about it.

It sounds like you have been through a difficult time and are just beginning to see the situation for what it really is - getting your head sorted about all that is going on around you. Hex 3 can be about coming to terms with what is best in the new situation. Here at line 3 it's a bit like the old and new having an arm wrestle. There's one approach that is trying to get you acting from a place of ignorance, acting dangerously / foolhardily and the other is telling you all about the dangers of rushing in and not waitimg for the proper time to act.

The fan yao 63.3 complements you for seeing everything for what it really is and to take precautions.
The opposition of 4.4 is guiding you to be careful of people /things that are trying to hold you back.
I get a sense this is much more complex than you have alluded to. Some of the complexity may even be self imposed, so for that reason you will be best positioned to make the best of this.Trust yourself to know what is best for you.
