I do not see 'evil nearing' in LiSe's translation.
This has the potential to be an exiting venture into the previously unknown, but that doesn't imply anything evil. The use of shamans, priests or magicians is symbolic for relying on something other than logic alone. It is sort of like stretching yourself beyond your previous conceptions of yourself and your relation to life's appearances. I've been feeling sick all day...really tired. Couple days ago I had an encounter with a new factor what is proving to fall somewhat under the 'evil' or at least most unpleasant. And of spiritual nature.
