Steve, Brad, LiSe, or others....

If four lines in a hexagram change wouldn't the two unchanging lines still be fairly relevant??? As they remain and are unchanging it seems logical to place a great deal of importance on what is still in effect regarding that particular hexagram.

Does this logic hold any water???

Well, in retrospect this is actually dyslexic...

It is after all only the moving lines that should be read....

Deb,
maybe you were right the first time. Made sense to me, though I haven't tried it yet.

Namaste,

Hi Joan,
It seemed logical when I wrote that post..

Nice to know it made some sense to someone else too.

Hi Deb-
I seem to remember something from Zhu Xi (the Song scholar) about this four line problem. His Yixue Qiming (tr. Alder) used to be online but it was pulled recently when it went back in print. It has lots of good stuff on divination, and I think it deals with your question.
With your permission I'll Email you a copy, a zip file with all the old graphics too. It's 1.1mb
Just let me know,

Me again-

I found it, on page 55 of 75:

"When four lines change, we use the two unchanging lines _in the resulting hexagram_ as the prognostication. But we take the lower line as ruler."

I think you might want this file.
