I'm starting a new thread to follow up on the dream I posted some time ago under the heading Dreams and words because this just may spark a bit of thinking and discussion and require a new thread.

I was doing research on the net on the history of the Yi when I was suddenly compelled to do a little more research on the emerald square in the dream I described in the above link. I input "emerald square symbolism" into the search window on google, and that sent me directly to several links about "the emerald tablet(s)."

This was my first encounter with any information about the emerald tablet(s), and when reading the various translations of the various lines, I couldn't help but notice a strong resemblence to several hexagrams of the I Ching. I've done a bit more research since then, and it seems possible to me that at least a few of the hexagrams of the I Ching may have made their way to Egypt possibly via India and Greece and possibly carved on jade (or emerald) tablets.

I'd love to know if any of you out there have done any research into the connection between the emerald tablet(s) and the I Ching. I'd like to know if there's any archaeological evidence as to its/their actual existence (with all due respect to you lovers of myth reading this, please spare me the alchemy myth at this time. I just dredged through tons of it. At this point, I'm only interested in serious scientific research).

Through my research thus far, I've learned that the Chinese appear to have been the first to dabble in alchemy, and the Chinese alchemists looked to the Zhouyi for their 'formula' for immortality (AND turning lead into gold...of course). India, Greece and Egypt followed soon after the Chinese with their own varieties of alchemy.

Just one other little development to further entice those more curious souls reading this post...

I punched "emerald square I Ching" into the google search window, and look at what popped up! Besides the rather eerie reality that my original thread is the second entry on the google list and its rather eerie juxtaposition to the first entry on the list, I'd love some input regarding the first article on the list. I'm NOT a mathematician. I have no idea if this fellow's formula is a serious calculation or a serious 'stretch' or just what he's getting at really. I'd love to know what anyone else gets from it.

Here's the best formula for immortality I've found so far, and it just happens to be the best connection yet to the Yi...IMHO.

One last question...does anyone see a connection with the mysterious word "dexacant" in all this?

Cheerio the noo,

Val

Akanthos - thorn, backbone
Dex(a) - ten
Kantharos - beetle or the wart under the tongue of the Apis bull
Dexter - right (not-left), good.
-cant also makes me think of some mythical animal, but I cannot remember what kind.

Searching for spoons-balls (why balls?). Saw a promising character in the Mawangdui Yi Jing.

I know .. Coeliacant.
Not mythical, but a very ancient fish, found several years ago.
Could not find the name for all the time since your dexacant, and 5 minutes after mailing that I did not know, I find it.
Strange thing, brains.

Hi Val,

Charlie Higgins is an old member of both Hex-8 and IChing_YiJing mailing list (don't know if he is a member of Midaughter). He used to have a website called Mension.com with lots, lots of information and theories. He also hosted "The Oracle" newsletter while Steve Moore was the editor.

I don't know what happened but it appears that he either sold the Mension.com domain name to a "psychic hotline co" or he let it expire and was scooped by them. A real shame, as it is the demise of Steve Moore's "The Oracle" newsletter.

Regarding connections between ancient Middle East and China, there have been several discussions in the past in other lists. Charlie had some theories about it in his site. Richard Cook in his thesis about "The Etymology of Chinese Chén" sees some connections with ancient Summeria and China.

Another interesting book to read is "The Chinese Pakua, an Expose" by Ong Hean-Tatt. If you get past some of the quasi-Judeo-Christian bias of the book (my interpretation of the bias may be incorrect though, but there is a bias...) the material is very interesting. Mr. Hean-Tatt point of view is as follow and I will quote from the preface of his book:

quote
-----

This book is about the meanings of the enigmatic Chinese Pakua. It is written for both the laymen and scholars who seek to understand the Pakua. Many traditions about the Pakua wold be described. But the book is a new and fresh journey where many secrets of the Pakua would be re-discovered.
The mystic Pakua, hanging over Chinese household doors, has been a fascinating challenge to both Oriental and Western thinkers. In truth, the Pakua's mysterious multiple layers of significance would be better understood if studied in relation to the origins of the ancient history of China because the variants of the Pakua are intimately linked to the development of the ancient Chinese history and culture.
There are universal similarities in the ancient religions, cultures and histories of Egypt, Assyria-Babylon, Greece, Rome and Teutonic lores. Many of these similarities are difficult to explain through mere chance. They indicate close communication links, diffusion of cultural symbolism and artifacts, that the similar roots of these ancient nations arise from the same basic sources. They support theories that the cradle of human civilisations may be in Mesopotamia, in agreement with the Middle East-Biblical legend of the Flood.
Are ther evidence of similar diffusion of cultural symbolism and artifacts from the Middle East into China?
Although the recorded history of Chinese civilisation went back as far as 2943BC, archeological evidence shows that the Chinse urban civilisation appeared quite suddently in China around 1400BC. The Chinese civilisation is comparatively newer to the older urban cultures of the Indus Valley (2350-1750BC) and the oldest urban Mesopotamia (3000-2300BC). Where were the civilised Chinese people before 1400BC? Some historians speculate that the Chinese originally came from Akkadia in the Mesopotamia and reached China by passing through Khotan in Central Asia.
The chinese culture stands out as one with the longest recorded historical continuity, dating back from modern times to the claimed 2943BC (the Biblical Flood occurred around 2348BC). Unless the Chinese ancient figures were figments of pure imagination there must be some connections between the ancient Chinese figures and events and ancient Middle East - Biblical or even western figures and events.
The book examines the problems of personification and euphemerisation in ancient Chinese history and takes the stand of anthromorphism. That is, legends are based on original historical figures.
The first section of this book, covering the initial seven chapters, highlights several auspicious aspects of teh Pakua and presents a number of new revelations about the Pakua. The implications of some striking Pakua aspects on the development of the ancient Chinese civilisation should be noted, viz:
1. Why is the magic square sign of the Chinse mystic Pakua, including that of the Nine Emperor Gods version, so similar to the Hebrew Kabalic talismanic sign of the Sigil of Saturn?
2. The 22 alphabets of the Hebrew script are alike to the 22 symbols of the Ganzhi system, composing of the Ten Celestial Stems and Twelve Terrestrial Branches. This may be evidence of how alphabetic languages arose from pictorial languages.
3. The Four Heraldic Animals of the Pakua have universal parallels in other ancient Middle East cultures. They are also the same as the Biblical four angelic beast around the throne of God.
One of the most striking revelations from the study is that the sacred Chinese "Lung" often misleadingly called the "dragon" is not the Biblical "serpent" symbolising Satan the Devil but rather is the holy winged-limbed "seraphim" of the Bible.
4. The Pakua's eight trigrams represent a eight members family; this is the eight members family of Noah.
Why is it the Chinese word for "boat" contains sub-characters depicting eight persons and a boat, reflecting the eight persons of Noah's family in the ark-boat which brought Noah and his family safely through the Biblical Deluge?
Several other Chinese ideaograms describe other ancient Middle East-Biblical legends from Creation to the Flood and to the Tower of Babel!
The change of the Pakua array from the Early Heaven to Later Heaven reflects changes in climatic conditions. The changes include an indication that the Chinese people were originally in a place where the sun shines in from the East.
5. The Chinese Pakua's astrology differs from Western elliptical astrology in being circumpolar which also characterises the Hebrew-Biblical stars system.
6. The Pakua is a memory of the Chinese Imperial worship of the imageless Supreme God, Shang-Ti. The Chinese historical records show that Shang-Ti was the only deity worshipped from ancient times until 500BC. This is very different from the Sun God Earth Mother-Goddess worships of other nations. The Chinese preserve a monotheistic worship more akin with the monotheism of the Hebrews.

Many of these symbolism of the Chinese Pakua thus find close kinship with the Middle East, specially Hebrew culture.

If you get past the fact that "the Chinese people were originally in a place where the sun shines in from the East" is actually a place called Earth, the other theories in the book are, although to my knowledge of a very heavy speculative nature, very interesting.

So, there you go. Here you have some connections between I Ching lore and the Middle East for you to muster about... :)

Cheers,

Val,

It is a tall order to interprete the Hexagrams you have obtained in relation to your dreams, especially in front of the many experts and scholars of the Yi.However I will try to do so to my best of abilities, though only in summary form.

The Hexagrams you have obtained and posted in the two related threads are as follows:

Hexagram #14

Hexagram #52/6 to #15

Hexagram #5

Hexagram #22/1&2 to #18

Hexagram #1/5 to #14

It appears that the time is favorable for you to achieve supreme success and wealth. It is in your fate to receive it.However do remember to maintain your modesty and be kind(virtues) to the less fortunate when you have achieved the fame and fortune.

Do not rush out to spend what you have not yet receive. You are only about to enter the situation.Wait cheerfully, since you know the fortunate outcome will arrive soon.Otherwise, things may go awry.

Meditation will be good for you while you wait.

From experience, your supreme success and wealth may come from your top pet project(not your current job).(For me it was the shares investments.)

When the time comes, most likely from August onwards, you will be like a flying dragon in the Heavens. If someone great helps you,it could be even better.

So enjoy your fame and fortune, but remember Yi`s advice.

Regards

Chuko

Chuko...

*stunned silence*

WOW! Thank you for taking the time to interpret all those castings! The stunned silence is because you just came up with information from those readings that 100% corroborates information that's been gradually revealed to me for over 20 years through psychics and dreams. I've been waiting for August for over twenty years now.

Regarding modesty, I spent my entire life in the entertainment industry. I've been around some very famous people, and I learned a lesson about modesty, integrity and sharing the wealth from many of them. Some of them, of course, just don't know how to behave. People are the same...whether they live on the west side of LA, upper west side of NYC or the backwoods of Virginia...and everyone deserves respect. I'm generous with my time and money whenever I can afford to be. That will never change.

Thank you again.

Val,

My father was a stand in in some of the old silent cowboy movies. Doesn't mean much I suppose, but he told me once he knew some of those oldtime actors, said he was a neighbor for a while of Jimmy Stewart. Don't know much more than that though.
