Currently enrolled in 2 classes while working and one of the classes I attended I found the professor to be very unhelpful and condescending so i asked the i-ching the same question twice and it gave me different answers?

First time: Should I stay in the class? Hexagram 23 unchanging
Split apart - go my own direction or rather just don't take action in which case the class gets deleted from schedule.....ah 23 always confuses me.

Second time: Should I drop the class? Hexagram 49.1 to 31.
Don't take action? Wait for time to pass, but there is no time as I have to make a decision by today.

Hi!
23 is pretty clear to me, I would not stay.

I don’t remember 49.1 at the moment, but 23 would enough for me to decide.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure if 23 was saying don't do anything - which in turns means the unpaid class gets deleted from my schedule or rather "lose" your way of thinking, ego in regards to class and stick with it.

It's unfortunate because I think I need this class to apply for some programs, but with a professor who humiliated me in front of the entire class I do not have the patience for it especially since I am there voluntarily and pay for it. I will take it later down the line from someone who has patience and is not unprofessional.

Don't go anywhere. So don't leave.

Should I drop the class? Hexagram 49.1 > 31
Stay wrapped up exactly where you currently are.

Remember this: the student is a customer.
If you're paying money, you have the right to be treated respectfully.
Complain about the tutor would be my advice.

Ah! Two opposite ways of thinking!

If you feel like staying, of course stay. You can never be 100% with Yi.

But I don’t see 23 as don’t move, more of sth collapsing.

Maybe it’s better to ask a suggestion about doing something than a “Should I?” type of question.

The choice is always yours, you can ask for advice but then you make your mind up without asking for permission.

so you can ask Yi “What if” as in “What happens if, what can this give me”?

Hi olga,
I agree that 23 can also show collapsing.
However, the Judgement says "it does not further one to go anywhere". Since the querent is wondering about leaving, to me it sounded like "no don't go anywhere".

Interesting point of view!

Now I wonder how many times I have taken the wrong decision based on a misreading

The important thing, jp78, is to follow our inner voice, I think.

Whenever I followed my inner desire, even though I was met with bad outcome, I never had regrets - which I would have if I did something because tahts what I thought Yi was saying.

Well, i took 23 as "don't take any action or move" which in this case to me meant not paying for the class before the deadline at which point the system would remove the class due to the unpaid balance. Looking back on it, I was really ticked off with how the professor spoke to me in class and decided I don't have time to be spoken down to. But after speaking with friend who works in the software industry, he said the other class I am currently enrolled in is the most important one and will require a lot of my attention. So not sure whether there is a right or wrong decision here, but based on the way I was treated along with those other variables I'm fine the current decision. As for complaining about the professor, the administration does not care. By not taking any action I have "split apart" from the rest of the class - the open interpretation of the hexagrams always leaves me second-guessing.

Maybe 49.1 means very softly, gently asserting your right to be treated respectfully.
I read some guru once said that learning happens not because of words or books or study but because of the love the teacher has for his student.
I think you can feel comfortable with your decision!

It occurs to me that it may be significant that your friend appeared and advised you that it would in reality actually be best that you focus on the one more important class. Sounds like 4.6 higher guidance closing off the inappropriate path by having the teacher insult you? Think about it, how else could your guardian angels have gotten you out of there quick enough to even save you the fee? Nice work, angels, well played!

49.1 and the visual of feet being wrapt in cow hide makes me think you are correct not to complain but to proceed softly on your independent path.
