I am curious about how others perceive the world. I would wonder if you could respond either publicly or privately to this question.

What percentage of your waking moments are externally controled and what percentage is internally controled? External would be the direct connection with external stimula. Internal would be the internal workings of the mind (even if the original stimulus was external).

I personally feel that at various times in my life it has changed. The highest external I believe was when I was care-taker to dozens of teens. I would put that percentage at around 25% external. Now in a quieter time I would guess it is between 5-10% external.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to think about this, comment, or respond.

Hi Wanderer-
Back in the days when Psychology meant sticking electrodes into mammalian neural issue, "they" (they being the cause of All cancer in laboratory rats) once put an electrode into a cat's auditory nerve and measured the signals sent to the cat's brain in response to a metronome. Then they put a mouse into the room. The metronome signals stopped, not in the brain, but from the ear.
Just tossing a carrot into your soup.
