I am new here and I'm very excited to be on this forum. For a while, I have observed this forum for insights. Some insights were right on where some a bit confusing.

Anyway on with my question. I asked clarity i-ching this question: why will Lawrence and I meet? Received 37.1.3.6 to 8


Backaground: I found out about a couple of months ago from a tarot card reader that him and I would be meeting up again. Well, the guy was ex boyfriend whom I dated for a few months last year. So, I have mixed feelings about this so called meet up with him that may happen in the future.

What does the 37 to 8 mean?

Why will you meet? It sounds as if the answer to that is because the tarot reader said you would and you are making it into a self-fulfilling prophecy. The I Ching is a bystander here.

forgive me willowfox if I sounded rude. I misread your answer. thank you for you input. I already know that him and I are meeting just trying to figure out a few things. Maybe I should let go of the reasoning and just let things be.

on a first glance, your answer seems to say that your relationship with him had not started off on good foundations (line 1) so -if you meet- you will get together to discuss what worked and what didn't work between you (line 3) and decide (line 6) if there is something that can hold you close once more (hex. 8) . .
(again, this is a rather 'superficial' reading, so take it with a pinch of salt )

What does the 37 to 8 mean?

You asked "why" in your question, and that can be a little harder to interpret than some other questions, in my experience. And perhaps that is not really what you wanted to know anyway...would the answers "because it is fated" or "because you have unfinished issues" be useful answers to you? In any case, I find that Yi often answers "the question behind the question," even though we didn't ask it directly.

You asked what H37 to H8 means. It means, possibly, something like, "Joining together with others (or creating a new grouping or union) into a family or clan." That does not necessarily mean marriage, it just means a close knit working group. It could be a group of two. Buy my overall sense of these two hexagrams is that there is possibly something more here than a casual relationship. A new grouping is being talked about in the reading.

Without a great deal of thought and back and forth discussion, Lines 1 and 3 seem to be about defining boundaries (and staying within them) and discussing roles. Did you two have a childlike relationship, or was one of you serious and parent-like? Yi suggests here possibly that someone should play the parent, scolding as needed. And whoever plays that parent role ends up in Line 6, inspiring trust and commanding respect. Line 6 usually indicates that you and he are, or will be, or can possibly be ending this cycle and beginning another. That can be the answer to "why", that you need to mature your relationship and bring the relationship to the next level.

P.S. I think rodaki has written a pretty darn good "snap" analysis of the moving lines, as well. There is certainly analysis and discussion in the lines, as well as the definition of roles, and the possibility of creating a new grouping.

Findingstrength, I suspect the Family hexagram is refering possibly to the boundaries you have already and need to set before you'd consider seeing Lawrence again.
I suspect it also means you can decide for yourself what you want to do--perhaps running in to Lawrence will be inevitable, but what happens next is up to you--if you are master of your own fate.
If life itself or other people can decide for you, then you will do more or less what they want, *not* including what you need and want.
#8,Union, also refers to, the fact that you need to ask yourself what you want in a relationship andwhat works for you.You mayindeed want a relationship wit him again, or you may not.But what matters most is if you two are truly compatible.

Why will you meet, because he is charismatic and can draw you to him, like a moth to the light, there is something about him that you seem unable to resist, fascination, curiosity call it what you want.
