Could anyone offer some thoughts on how to interpret a reading when there are lots of changing lines please?

I asked 'What do I need to do in the coming week', and got #50 with changes in lines 1,2,3 and 4, => 27

I'm curious about the sheer number of changing lines. Does anyone have a method for interpreting so much movement?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Ann - I've found Steve Marshall's method very helpful, but I'm sure others have many different approaches. In the end, I think what's important is what you decide is most intuitively right for you, and then stick with it.

Marshall's explanation is about 3/4 of the way down the page.

Hope this helps . . .

Clear up any outstanding problems, be cautious how you do it but remain determined to finish the job.

Thank you both!

I looked at Steve Marshall's web page - it's very complicated isn't it?

Willowfox, thank you for the interpretation. Much appreciated!

You need to pay attention to sustaining yourself properly. No take aways - proper home cooked food - get your vitamins :D

LOL Maria and Trojan

As it happens, i'm not that well at the moment so taking care of self and adjusting what I eat is spot on. In fact the 'cooking' element had occurred to me with all those changing lines, given the idea of the 'pot' 50 and 'mouth' 27.
Very funny

Thank you

On a more serious level you could take the 4 lines as a story or series of events - line 1 sees you getting rid of old stuff you don't need, and line 3 figuring out how to use what you have actually got, but line 4 could be a warning not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Generally I think its about taking care of and utilising what you have in your life - trouble is i have no idea what level thats on - could be your diet, clearing out your wardrobe, your love life or something altogether more profound. Guess you need to figure what your chief concerns are right now - if its health then idet look crucial, yes

Changing lines signify...change. Wow, what a concept! If you keep that in mind, then it seems natural to think that the more changing lines you have in a hexagram, the more change is involved. This can either be thought of as the scope of change (Four lines? Whoa! This should be an exciting ride!), or the rate of change (it's a quick change, expect to see it soon), or where to put the emphasis. By the latter I mean if there are fewer changing lines, the emphasis is on the primary hexagram and the relating hexagram is one possible line of future development; if there are many changing lines (four, for instance) the starting point is the primary hexagram, but the emphasis is on the relating hexagram as a very likely future development.

You decide.

When you're clear on how it is for you, you get a LOT more out of oracle consultation.

And at an even more advanced level, it's possible to look at the three approaches I've outlined above as a possibility in ANY reading ("Well, which is it this time?") - you consider all the possibilities and plump for the most likely or most useful - the one that seems to talk to you most truly.

Thank you - that makes a lot of sense.

I am experiencing a lot of change at the moment, on a lot of fronts. I can understand #50 as being the container, looking at what you put in it etc. 27 seems to be about nourishing, so that makes sense too - cooking up something that really nourishes.

Thank you all for your help.
