Friendship question

Hi,

I was hoping someone could give me some insight into a hexagram I cast.

Background - Been friends with my ex girlfriend for many years. Both very happy with our new partners. But we still share a good friendship. There is nothing dishonest in our communications and we are not unfaithful to our current partners. We have not had an argument. She lives in another state. We communicate via social media. She has become silent for a few months towards me, but still communicates to others on the social media. Am not sure why. I consulted the Iching to get some advice about whether our communication will still continue (perhaps I am missing something in the picture.) I received the following hexagram:

Hexagram 58 - Tui - Joy -

First line undivided - Speaks about inner harmony and good fortune.

Second line undivided - The pleasure arising from inner sincerity. There will be good fortune.

Third line divided - speaks of bringing round himself to whatever can give pleasure. This is inauspicious.

The resulting hexgram is Hexagram 31 influence - There is advantage in being firm and correct as in marrying a young lady.


Based on the above hexagram, it seems that it may be positive and that there is a possiblity that our communication will open again. However, I am unsure of the resulting hexagram. What is influence? Is she being influenced against me? Or is there attraction? I am very confused. Any suggestions? Did I ask the correct question when casting?

Hey Kyle,

i think your question was pretty straightforward, and so is the answer.

There is joy in your communication and there is also mutual attraction (31 never lies, in my experience..)

The first two lines speak about joyous communication in the first stages, solid and reliable, but the third isnt at the right place, which to me suggests one of you is not entirely honest in their intent (is there really no attraction if you feel compelled to enquire about it?).

This is also reflected in the fan yao (31.3, if you look at the reverse line) which speaks of rationality and sexuality struggling against each other.

I'll let you draw your own conclusion..
