I have some pretty serious health issues currently for my age. I have a disease with symptoms for four years. My PCP refused to run test or address my pain. I can understand not Rx pain meds, but he doesn't offer any palliative treatment either. I feel like he is saying you will have to suffer.
So I asked the I-Ching should I go to the ER?

I got 33.2.5>50.

I didn't know what to think of the response, I figured it maybe stupid to wait for a response from the group here and went ahead to the ER.

So I asked today was it a mistake that I went and received:

18.3>4

I kind of felt like the answer was a yes.

What do you guys think?

i would have seen 33 as getting tucked up at home and some
good coming out of that (50)

I dont think Yi ticking you off but 18 may be saying you put
something right by going (namely move GP if it feels off to you)
but also be respectful of the Yi - as everyone knows when you
cast and cast 4 comes up. Not saying you did but it is telling you
to respect the teacher you have much to learn.
if its the result you wanted - all well and good

I would see 18.3 in this context as your need to set things right and know what is going on. By going to the ER, you went a little farther than you needed to but you're dealing with a lack of trust and information from your PCP, setting right the corruption of the father - in this case, the authority of your PCP. I'm sure there will be some remorse when you get the bill but great relief from starting to find a PCP that you can trust.

Thank you for your replies. My decision is to see an Internist to manage my multiple health issues and retain my PCP for basic healthcare, e.g. cold, vaccinations, sprains etc. I am torn about going to the ER, 1 felt my pain needed to be documented but on the other hand the Yi is right I am only a student.

"Some regret but not much blame" is the text from the translation I like the best. So, don't blame yourself, since nobody would blame you for trying to take care of yourself properly. It takes courage to go to an ER! You never know what's going to happen! I think it's wonderful that you're well on your way towards having a better doctor because of it.
