Hello everyone, am glad to have found such a great resource in this site. Thank you to Hilary for helping me get started with the I Ching. The downloads and beginners' guide have been great.

I began my day with a question about a project at work and received a straightforward answer not to proceed. Next I asked about tying up loose ends at work instead, and received a remarkable response. All six lines are changing; the result was 64/Before Completion moving to 63/After Completion. While this makes absolutely perfect sense, I'm a bit confused as to the significance of six changing lines. Reading them 1-6 gives conflicting information. Is it correct to interpret line 1 as current, and gradually moving toward line 6?

I'm excited about proceeding with the I Ching, and thank you to everyone here!

personally if this were my reading i would not concern myself with the lines at all but look at the overall picture of 64 changing to 63. Seems to perfectly sum up 'tying up loose ends'

hmmm... six changing lines... that usually means that if six people respond to this posting, you will get six different answers... ;->

I'm of the school that says you should concentrate on the changed hexagram as that is what you are moving into, or have probably moved into by now. You might contemplate the changing lines of the first hex for the lessons that are still fresh from your old state, but your present concerns are, in this case, 63 and all it teaches about tying up loose ends and preparing for the next phase.

Thanks for responding; I agree with both of you. This morning it seemed very odd: three tails, then three heads, then three tails, etc. But in stepping back from it, it's a very simple and exact answer.

Also, I became more familiar with the site and found that multiple changing lines is a very common concern, so my apologies for repeating it. A comprehensive answer can be found here:

And finally, tying up the loose ends has been working great! I'm having a productive day at work and feeling very good about it. So there just may be something to this I Ching...
