Who doesn't admire Heisenberg, von Braun, Heidegger, Zuse, and so on? Their imagination and inventiveness created the modern world. The Greeks would be helped if they were more like them. Sakis Totlis thinks Greeks should abandon Christianity and return to philosophy. Abandoning Christianity is the modern trend, but philosophy, in general, bakes no bread. I think Greece would be saved by a return to the drachma. That way they could inflate their money supply just like Americans and pay their pensions with worthless drachma. The Greek pension system is the hole that EU money cannot plug. Since half or more of the population of Greece is living off the pension system -- if only one in a family draws a pension, that is enough to support the rest -- and since the other half are living for the day when they can start drawing their pensions, this is hardly a productive frame of mind. Go cold turkey on euros.
