Help with 29.1.2.5 to 24

Hi

I havent been using the I Ching long and am not sure if my interpretation of this reading is subjective.

I asked the question, should I end my relationship? and i got 29.1.2.5 to 24. I read this as saying I shouldnt rush into ending it, wait until I am really sure. with the change to 24 possibly signifying that if i end it, after a while i will be happy again and maybe meet someone else?

Hi Rach,
I'd suggest Yi is telling you how to behave in difficult and dangerous times, i.e. how to get out of the abyss, which I am afraid is a metaphore of the current status of your relationship.

I'd say individual lines are warnings about what to do, and not to do.

29.1 do not go into the canyon
29.2 seek modest gain
29.5 the pit does not overfill

So maybe in essence Yi is telling you not to be overwhelmed by the difficult situation (29.5) and not to act directly (29.1), do not expect too much (29.2), I generally agree with your interpretation, but my bias is that Yi is suggesting you how to deal with this negative situation, how to deal with negative emotions, how to avoid or limit pain and suffering, I think that the danger or risk indicated by 29 here is emotional pain.

And remember that the water sooner or later gets out of the canyon.
