Hex 2.5.4.1>17 - regarding studying progress

Hi everybody!
First of all, I'd like to apologize for my english, which is not the best since it's not my native language.
I'm pretty new to I Ching, and I decided to ask the Yi about my situation, because I struggle with self-doubts. Basically I take paid lessons in order to get better in a business I try to make a living from later on. Actually I've made some strong improvements during the last months, but I don't feel very confident with my abilities and questioned the positive result of my efforts. Therefore I decided to ask the Yi, and I have asked the following question:
How will my situation develop, when I'm focus on achieving my goal? I got: Hex 2.5.4.1.>17
I'm just sit here for three days now, made lots of notes and try to extract a relevant "message", but all of my interpretations are filled with wishful thinkings and almost blinded me. Therefore I was searching for a forum with people who are not involved and have more experience with the I Ching than I have. Hopefully, some of you can tell me what they think about this constellation regarded my question.

well in a nutshell...my capsule impression is if you follow your inspiration (17) to take this route, this course of action you won't be going wrong but be sensitive to how things develop (2.1) and don't project too much into the future, into seeing what the results of this course of action will be, you can't tell just now.(2.4) Perhaps something may guide you a little off your intended path. If that happens don't be too dogmatic about sticking to what you already decided (2.5). In short relax a little and allow yourself to be guided by what truly inspires you. Do not worry too much about where this is headed in terms of visible achievment.(2.5)

It would seem overall you are doing okay in following a vision of some kind, maybe someone else inspired you. I think you just have to keep true to that vision whilst also being responsive to developments along the way. Maybe don't be too focused...if you get sidetracked in anyway allow it, see where it goes. Inother words follow the way you are intending but don't shut out any offshoot possibilities that may occur along the way

BTW 2.5 often signifies doing well in a subordinate position, benefiting from not being the one in charge so don't worry too much if you feel frustration you can't forge ahead by yourself yet

Thank you very much for your answer, trojan. Your interpretation is very good, but left myself with lots of "if's". I don't know if this is okay, but since this is a very serious situation for me, I asked the Yi again what will be the definite result (personally and financial) if I just keep track of my goals. The answer was:
Hex 44.4.3.2.1>42
I read a very strong warning in this message. So strong that it is indeed a heartbreaker for me. All my life I wanted to be in the position where am I now; learning something I really love. But I struggled with myself all the time and reading this warning, I have to realize that all my struggles might reasonable. I can't interpret any other message in this answer than: "Stop it!" Maybe the Yi refer to my self-doubts, but I don't think so. This is just a pipe dream I want to believe in.
