I would love additional input on this one as it relates to a career decision. I basically told the I Ching the direction I want to go in to achieve what I want.

You all get it, it being the I Ching, better than I do.

Thanks!

Never mind.

Actually, I think I know what's going on here. No matter what I asked about on Thursday, it responsed with H13 change to H45, H31 change to H45, pure H45, and Friday it responded to my career decision with H31 change to H2.

I am fairly certain, like it did in Kts's class and for LiSe with H51 just prior to the WTC catastrophe, it was preparing me, especially considering what happened soon after I posted the question.

Val - This is off the cuff and there's no condescension of any kind intended.

Being an influential force is directly related to our own ability to be influenced.

I don't know the particulars of your situation, but the series of readings, especially the reading you initially posted, definitely shows a collective influence of following, leading and uniting.

Where or if this applies, only you could know.

Candid,

Thank you for the additional insight, reference "Being an influential force is directly related to our own ability to be influenced."

You can't possibly know just how appropos that is to the following, leading and uniting that is happening. Oh but does it ever apply. So much so that I'm going to write it 100 times to get it tattooed on my brain so I won't forget. I dare not forget!

Thanks again.

Re hexagram 31 changing to 2. I don't really know what the question was (hee hee, novel concept that you TOLD the I Ching what you were going to do.) but anyway I get the impression of your wishes, your attractions, running away with you. Leading you by the nose as it were. I think it may be saying somethings attracting you, giving you the impulse to go after it, but that impulse is a little erratic and may not run very deep ? Line 3 speaks of an attraction thats somewhat automatic, that you'd be better to step back from and evaluate. Line 4 can mean your wishes have been so changeable, no one can keep up with you, or take you seriously (no offence meant). Line 5 may mean, yes your're feeling this impulse to action, but ultimately its not going to have much impact - its not running deep enough.

I feel Yi is saying "Hang on a minute, slow down, don't chase after everything that looks attractive to you right now. Calm down Val"

Well it may not be saying that at all, but thats how it looks to me -

Wow, Louise,

That was great. Just so happened I was about to post almost EXACTLY the same thing. I mean it was so close I cancelled it. I got a little shiver actually when I read yours. It has to do with the dreaded "S" word, so don't breathe a word to Lindsay, OK? ;-))

Namaste,

Hi Louise...

Telling the I Ching my plans, my decisions is how I usually communicate with it. When it's NOT addressing a bigger or more urgent issue (*grin*), it tells me the possible outcome of that decision. For me, it's like discussing my choices and deepest desires with a best friend who has no hidden agendas, is not judgmental and has infinite wisdom.

Actually what you say, holding off for now, is pertinent to what I feel the I Ching is saying in the chain of throws I mentioned in my second post, only it's not about ME holding off. This kind of chain happens often to me. The I Ching doesn't address the issues I'm presenting, but discusses a more important up-and-coming event until I finally say "Ah...I get it." Or until it happens and I look back and say "Ah...THAT'S what you meant." All the throws Thursday and yesterday go together. And they were all completely irrelevant to the issues I was addressing, including the Hex 31 change to Hex 2.

The I Ching was telling me that the Bush administration would be receptive to and influenced by the following, leading and uniting that happened in the anti-war protests today around the world. The Bush administration is going to back off for now. It was much more important for me to know that than the issue I was addressing.

Just as Candid said, "Being an influential force is directly related to our own ability to be influenced." And that's not just applicable to world leaders. It applies to us all. We all have influence over something or someone or many things and many people in our lives. I want to thank Candid again for that bit of wisdom. I feel it's very important to remember even in day-to-day living...especially in day-to-day living. It's something I've become increasingly aware of in my advancing years and accumulated experience. He just put it in words so eloquently and beautifully that I want to make a mantra of it.

I've learned from experience to not go into the changing lines too much, to look at the big picture first and foremost, then at the changing lines if I feel I need more input, but only if. In fact, I like Gene's suggestion on the changing lines, that they represent stages of progress. If we get a nine in the fifth place, then we've already passed the possibilities or lessons illustrated in the previous lines. Since he wrote that in another thread, I've looked at the lines with that point of view, and they make much more sense to me now than they ever have.

Cheerio the noo,

Val
