I asked Yi for insights on how to deal with two particular young men (who are cousins) who both cause me much agitation and upset. I know the best way is to minus myself out of their drama's and mind games but unfortunately I work near them so I see them around regularly and it is easier said than done. I try to keep a low profile and not respond but sometimes I do take the bait. When I see either of them it just winds me up and it affects me. I don't know why.

I am not sure what to make of this reading. The Chinese character for ‘influence’ shows a mouth and a weapon: the influence goes deep, and makes us vulnerable. - does this mean I should use my mouth - and tell them they are upsetting me. I don't really want them to know to the extent they affect me. Don't want them to know they have power to upset me.

Can anyone help with this please?

The image of 31. Influence is of a mountain, meaning silence, with a lake on top, meaning a small opening. Together they suggest openness that does not go too deep. I think you are being advise to keep your barriers up but still be friendly. Keep your conversation to "Hello! I'm fine, how are you? Have a good day."

Buddhism says - just look at your thoughts and don't let them turn into words, action. Watch them and allow them to pass without influencing you. No suppression, just watch and acknowledge them. In time you won't bite anymore.

Adapting this idea to the image, I can see that lake is high above, clear and calm. Lowly things don't reach it.
Dirt and dust slides and slowly seeps down the mountain, leaving the lake pure and cold. Also it's closer to heaven there, to higher power and ideals.

Thank you for your replies. I am trying not to let them bother me and also to just remain as quiet as possible. If they see I am not reacting maybe they will leave me alone.

Yep that was my policy since childhood and it pretty much works all the time
