Hex. 38 into hex.42?

my question was: in wich extent is the right decision to stop all contacts with a certain person?
Well, that person is my ex, and we tried to remain friends, but it didn't work. The first hex (38)describes perfectly what was going between us and the fact that I stopped communicating with him, but I don't understand the changing lines and resulting hex. 42.

The lines seem to suggest a third party benifiting your involement.Someone you meeet going through the same situation as yourself.Or perhaps a chance meeting with your ex, at sometime in the future ;changing the situation.Or Perhaps a reconcilation.If not then it brings a better understanding between you both so you can move forward as friends not enemies.

Maybe you won't like my comment, but in my opinion both lines (2 and 5) are very clear related to the question. Also the tendential hexagram

Line 2: two people... misunderstandings among them... even so, "is not a fault" remain together
Line 5: two people... misunderstandings amomg them.. mistrust.. you don't see the other as friend.. but he could be.

Hex 42: a personal sacrifice to achieve an improvement.

In one prhase: the "right decision" is not "stop all contacts ", but resolve the oposition avoiding mistrust and misunderstandings. This implies some sacrifices, but leads to an improvement.

this is exactly the same thing I tought, and of course I am very curious which one of the solutions is going to happen!
Jesed:thanks, and I have nothing against your comment, because I really wanted to remain friends with him...
The fact is he wasn't in love with me and because of that he treated me in a way that wasn't o.k. Later, when we tried to be friends he wasn't sensitive enough to avoid some comments that you can't say to a person you've been with.
So, because of lack of his consideration I was forsed to do so.....
Maybe this explanation brings different light on the possible explanation of hexagrams.
