Hello,

I posted on another thread asking for the conclusion of someone else's story because they received the same reading as above, but I thought I would open a new thread and see if anyone can help me interpret this. This is what I said on the other person's thread (I don't know how to link, or if that's what I'm supposed to do):

"Hi, bonnieta, I see that you are still here on the site. I got the same reading for a similar situation. This one is not a romantic relationship, but I worry about a neighbor of mine when I don't see him outside for a while. He has talked about having these bouts of depression, and when he gets these he just wants to stay inside his house. He's a very nice person and I am a worry wart. I don't like to bother people, but I'm hoping that all is well and that I'll see him outside soon to say hello or chat.
So yes, what happened with you and your friend?"

Hexagram 14.2.3.6>51, the way I'm seeing it for my situation is:

Line 2: ‘A great chariot to carry loads.
With a direction to go, no mistake.’

This is very funny to me because I actually have a special city bus (I call it 'the short bus' :D) that I schedule because I have a walker I use and can't walk very far.

It's a "great chariot" and has a lift for my "load" and tomorrow I have an appointment "with a direction to go." :)

A lot of times he comes outside to wave when he hears the backup beeps from the bus (the whole thing is very loud, took me a while to get over the embarrassment of the commotion. I'm pretty shy and don't like to attract that much attention).

Line 3: ‘A prince makes an offering to the son of heaven.
Small people are in no way capable of this.’

For this I'm not sure. Should I make some cookies to bring over later? That's something I do sometimes. I know I'm treating this very literally, and I think there must be some other meaning behind this, but I don't know any other way to apply this.

Line 6: ‘From heaven comes help and protection.
Good fortune,
Nothing that does not bear fruit.’

This line seems to say that, whether I see him or not, he is just fine and not to worry.

Then it moves to hexagram 51:

‘Shock, creating success.
Shock comes, fear and terror.
Laughing words, shrieking and yelling.
Shock spreads fear for a hundred miles.
Someone does not lose the sacred ladle and libation.’

Some kind of shock that seems bad at first, then one laughs about it afterwards?

Probably my interpretation is too literal and I'm missing something a lot more deep than this. I'm studying readings to try to understand the Yi better, just past the phase of doing a new reading every single morning (like the Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner who was afraid to leave the table with the fortune telling machine :)

So thank you in advance to anyone who'd like to help me learn more.

Hi Liselle,

Still trying to learn the etiquette here, so sorry and thank you for the correction. I'll try to be more careful about it next time.

I do still want to know what happened on the other thread, so bonnieta, if you're listening and want to respond, I'll keep an ear out.

However, as far as mine here, I should have been using my noggin before I posted it. I'll know what happens by the end of today anyway, won't I? So it was silly for me to have started this thread in retrospect :D

If I don't see him out and about, I won't worry. And I'll probably make a batch of something and bring it over just because it's something I enjoy doing once in a while anyhow.

It just means we'll have a reading with an outcome, which is actually quite nice :) .

I like daily readings, for learning and also for the guidance. The nice thing is you can do them, or not, based on nothing more than whether you want to on any given morning.

Outcome Ahead (sorry this anticlimax was so late in coming :)

A. No, the neighbor (I'm calling him Wilson now after the neighbor in "Home Improvement 'Well, hi-dee-ho there, neighbor'") did not come out of his house when I left, nor when I returned.

But this is what happened:

Line 2:
‘A great chariot to carry loads.
With a direction to go, no mistake.’

Yes, that worked out as expected; I had a direction to go, and my great chariot did indeed carry me there (and back), no mistake.

Well, a slight mistake: the return driver circled the place I was standing several times before he saw my frantic gesturing. It was late and getting dark and cold, the facility had closed behind me. I thought the driver might give up and go to the next passenger, but he did finally see me. (Perhaps a shock that turns out okay, hexagram 51?)

Line 3:
‘A prince makes an offering to the son of heaven.
Small people are in no way capable of this.’

Not sure if Wilson is the son of heaven exactly :/ but in any case I guess I must be one of the small people because I did not make anything to offer anyone. Son 1 had already cooked up some burgers for us, and because it was so late it didn't seem polite to bother Wilson.

Line 6:
‘From heaven comes help and protection.
Good fortune,
Nothing that does not bear fruit.’

So this is the rest of what happened:

Wilson and I have each others phone numbers, but we've only communicated by text or phone a few times. We mostly just communicate by waves (semaphore?) and about relatively important things (one was re a fire in the building next door). So it was kind of a shock (perhaps hexagram 51 again) that he would text at about 10.30p that evening asking if we had any "grub" as he puts it. He's asked us once before when he was ill if we had any sick-type foods (crackers, soup, ginger ale) and in our neighborhood people do watch out for one another. Turns out he was out of food waiting on his social security check. So the prince wound up bringing the son of heaven some cold burgers.

As it turns out I should have gone over there to begin with, but in the end there was "no need to force things to happen in a certain way" (per Hilary). There was still good fortune and everything worked itself out just fine.

I read on this board all the time, and some of the conversations get really much deeper than I can go, although I still enjoy reading them until I finally have to claw my way back up to the surface, desperate for air.

I'm beginning to think that Yi is talking to me in a very literal way because I'm a spiritual youngster and that's all I can handle right now. Maybe I'll grow up more and the Yi will give me more complex readings. But for now I'm glad Yi doesn't.

And daily readings, thanks Liselle. Still do them and now I won't feel so silly about it anymore.
