Dear I-Chingers,

I am in the middle of a book project, halfway through. I asked the I-Ching if I will suceed in finishing the exhausting work and received hexagram 15.1.3>24.
For me this answer seems to be auspicious, like I would indeed be able to complete it. But I should be careful not to lose my focus while thinking about the success. So keeping up the work instead of indulging in doubts and hopes seems to be the advice. What do you think about?
I am very glad to read your opinions!

Best regards, black milk

yes, looks promising.
the jun zi brings things to completion.
modesty is useful in crossing thr great stream. diligence gets results.

And I think the 24 advises you to somewhat disengage from other activities while you are working on it.
(no adventures, new business deals, etc)

Thank you, Moss Elk. :)
And you are right, I must remind myself being careful not to distract myself by other plans and ideas. There are so many nice things one could do but sometimes it's important to keep focus on one project.

The superior man reduces that which is too much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

So try to write a little bit each day?

The superior man modest about his modesty
May cross the great water.
Good fortune.

Perhaps a warning not to promise anyone that the book will be a certain way or be done by a certain time. Keep expectations to a minimum.

A superior man of modesty and merit
Carries things to conclusion.
Good fortune.

So if you haven't made grandiose promises and keep to a schedule it appears the I Ching is assuring you it is possible for you to complete the writing.

24. Return
Perhaps you are being alerted that you will need to schedule time for re-writes.

Thank you rosada -- that's spot on. Nor I have the energy neither the time to write full time. It is obviously important to write steadily, though slowly. And as you suggested, I will not set/promise a deadline to others and also not to myself. Everything else would pressure me. It will take as long as it takes. And for sure I will need time for rewritings.
So according to the advice of you two, rosada and Moss Elk, I will try to keep continuity and shelve other projects in this time in order to succeed. Both of your interpretations are important to me, because I have a hard time to keep focus right now and then it is crucial to set realistic goals (writing a bit each day) and to disengage from other activities that could distract me.

Yes, it's been some time since Equinox shared this reading! Having come up with the same reading in relation to a similar project (October 2019), I would like very much to know how things worked out. :)

Greetings everyone -- my apologies for taking literally years with my update.
And also for not helping you @wander woods and @post-snow, I didn't notice your inquiry.

The not so great news is: I couldn't finish the book yet. The pandemic came, I got sick at that time too (but not with Covid itself) and after I recovered I had enough to do to get back on track professionally.
But, I'm still absolutely willing to finish the book, the subject still has me. However, I have to be realistic, that won't be very soon.

Hex 24 as backdrop was spot on, as I'm still going back to the book in my mind and
plan to tackle it again.

And I think the 24 advises you to somewhat disengage from other activities while you are working on it.

This was a problem indeed, I was not able to establish sufficient focus for various reasons.

Perhaps a warning not to promise anyone that the book will be a certain way or be done by a certain time. Keep expectations to a minimum.
This obviously hits the core as well.

@wander woods and @post-snow:

And what happened to your books? I won't be upset, if you don't answer for a few years ;)
