Hexagram 21.2... Oh Dear.

Some years ago, 2 now, I fell in love with a friend and spoilt the friendship. At the end, breaking it off, I did something that hurt him - broke it off suddenly and too harshly. He has since moved away with his partner. Once in the interim he turned up on my doorstep with a mutual friend - but when she texted me to tell me he was with her (she was dropping something off) I happened to be out. Then he moved. I learned this week he was back in town, just for a day and a night on a work thing. I emailed him, saying I wanted him to know I was always happy to see him if he ever wanted to, wondering if he had a free moment though understanding if he did not, and telling him I had apologies to make to him which I would prefer to make face to face. As of today, 2 days later, no reply, and he has left town (though his new home is not too far away).

I asked the Yi:

Will he answer my email? 21.2 changing to 38

What are the prospects for my friendship with X ever recovering? 7 unchanging

These seem contradictory to me. Does anyone have any thoughts?

21zhi38 Yes, he will answer your email but not immediately but after some time. He does have friendly feelings for you (meaning, not romantic feelings but open for friendship).

I hope to be right on this and you can resume your friendship

I am long past the stage of wanting romance, I simply want to heal a wound I inflicted on us both by dropping the friendship.

The Yi is amazing when it starts talking to you directly.

This is a hexagram 38 situation... and this is what I got:

I asked the Yi, What do I need to understand about this situation? And I got he 38 unchanging.

Then I asked, How does X my friend feel about me? And I received hexagram 38 changing line 2, which gives relating hex 21... where I began.
