hexagram 23 line 6 becoming hexagram 2

following on from my thread about my wondering whether my friend would contact me soon...i heard from the friend on new years eve...he called me and we arranged to meet...when we met he did not seem very happy...when i asked what was wrong he did not want to say..i asked the i ching why was he behaving like this?...the answer i received was hexagram 23 line 6 becoming hexagram 23...any thoughts on this?...many thanks, sparkler

I received this once, and it meant- "a very long, painful process is finally over".

thanks, autumn...but when i saw him he seemed very unhappy, so things were not over in the sense that he was feeling better about things...or does this answer mean that our friendship is over? I do hope not.:bows:

Hex 23.6 his life has split apart, he is all over the place, he is slowly destorying himself unless he changes his ways.

Hex 2 he should have been content to follow others but obviously he tried to take the lead and it has defeated him by taking the wrong action somewhere down the line.

23.6 images a divided situation: one person is carried along, the other person is required to strip away their position or location. Okay, you asked why your friend was behaving that way. From what you drew (23.6) I'd say he's acting that way because he has to - he's going through a process where one part of him (the better part) is being carried along by the flow of the situation, but the other part (the inferior part) is having to pay a price - he's going through a kind of rough period of transition in other words, and it probably doesn't have anything to do with you.
