First of all, I would like to apologize for my English, since I use the google translator to send you this message.

I would like you to give your opinion on a question I asked and in which I got the result 3.4 changing to 17. I asked what possibilities there are for a person to propose to me to go out to dinner in the short and medium term.

I am not sure I understand well what I Ching is telling me. If the answer is that this person will take the initiative or rather, if that person goes out to dinner, I will have to take the initiative and propose it.
I would like to know your opinion. Thank you.

Hi Serraluna, I am inexperienced with reading the I Ching as I just started however your reading results is present in The Book of Changes: Yijing (I Ching) - Word By Word on this page: http://www.hermetica.info/, just scroll down, open the book and search 3.4 to take you to the reading for more info, the answer seems positive and more focused on your state of mind, perhaps you can make something of it?

3.4 > 17

It depends on if this person is a woman. The line says that the woman goes after the man (a female line being active). She's the type of woman who likes running after the male (17). So if this person is a woman, don't take the initiative, let her make a move, because if you chase after her, she won't like this and she will go chasing after another man. If this person is a man and you're a woman, then you should make a move. If both partners are of the same sex, then whoever is acting 'female' should make a move.

In this cast, what I have understood is that this person (is a man) will not make me the proposal to go out, I will have to take the initiative and then he will accept it.

what I have understood is that this person .... will not make me the proposal to go out, I will have to take the initiative and then he will accept it.
Well, that might be the outcome, but I don't see that the Yi is saying this is an absolute.

Here you are told that 'to ask and then to proceed shows clarity.' But you are also told to have all your ducks (or horses) lined up - all working together.

This is a time then to gather one's energies, thoughts, emotions, so they (e.g your 'horses') are acting as one. And also it's okay to ask the advice of friends, the Yi, etc. It may be that you also have to do a bit of sorting out: Is this person good for me? Do I really want to be with them? etc.

And it might be that you have to do the asking ... or ... maybe that you just have to make yourself available and show interest. It maybe still be okay to let him take the lead - or have him think so anyway!

But, ... I think this is advising you on the best approach to this situation and to getting the best possible outcome - but I don't think that the Yi is giving you any ultimate guarantees.

Best, D.

Thanks for your comentss, Freedda. It's obvius that I Ching shows many possibilities of interpretations and meanings. The situation between this person and I is having a new begining now after a long període of incommunication. We'll see...
