I told my landlord when I moved in that I'm unemployed but have a couple of job prospects lined up now him and his friend keep questioning me about it

Why do they keep asking me about my employment prospects

That says to me they don't believe me which is what I felt might be the case....what about hexagram 33?

Yes, maybe you are right. They may think your talk about the jobs was just trumpery. But on the other hand, it could mean, that they are the ones just gossipping (maybe in a state of worry that you won't be able to pay the rent in future) and that they will stop these talks. (retreat)
Did you already sign the contract and do you pay the rent like you should? If yes, then let them talk. After the contract is signed, it is not their business anymore HOW you pay the rent, the only important thing is that you do it.

Thanks blackmilk - no contract was signed I just pay 2 weeks in advance....it's actually a weird setup.
Well as it turns out after I started this thread I got a message and will be working for one of the organisations I mentioned to them....I start next week. Casual to start with but that works for me.
Perhaps that will be their gossipy retreat.
