Hexagram 40 says,
"The superior man pardons mistakes and forgives misdeed."

The I Ching is telling you to forgive these transgressions whether they were accidental or intentional.

This doesn't mean you ignor them but that you find a way to forgive them. This might even require you changing jobs.

I agree with rosada.

One thing I always consider whenever I receive a fixed hexagram is the dominant of the ruling lines. Because the way out of a Hexagram is through the lines, it makes sense to me to consider these as a hint to help me move beyond the situation. In Hex 40, this is the 5th line: 'If only the superior man can deliver himself, it brings good fortune. Thus he proves to inferior men that he is in earnest'.

Wilhelm says of this: "Inferior people can not be driven off by prohibitions or external means. If one desires to be rid of them, he must first break completely with them in his own mind; they will see for themselves that he is in earnest and will withdraw."

I interpret this as suggesting that we break free from them, not by judging them as inferior, but by seeing their innocence. If we can see innocence in others, we will naturally forgive their transgressions. If we're genuine, they will sense this and they will withdraw - their behavior will change. This does not mean we become a doormat, it means we need to bring about genuine change within ourselves, we need to genuinely see their innocence, not just tell ourselves they're innocent.

Not that it's easy. The I Ching's counsel rarely is. :bows:

Thanks Rosada- You had advised that I change jobs...This is a very good job but yes I could change it. Also I could change my manager i.e it would be very easy to get that done. Should I follow that course.

Hex 40 is advising you to let the story go, take absolutely no notice of what your manager and his wife maybe or maybe not upto, let go of your fear and be more positive in your life as you will find there is nothing that your boss or his wife can do to you. There is no need to change your job or your boss, but there is a need for you to change your attitude towards your boss, if you take no notice of him then you will be free to enjoy your work.
So, don't be afraid of anybody or anything. And don't worry about his wife maybe trying to cast an evil eye because she has no such power to do so.
