Hi all,
I recently had a promising interview with a company that I would really like to work for. The interview was impromtu and brief, as it was arranged by a friend that already works for the company. However, the hiring director that I met did email me shortly after and asked me to do a mock-project (this is a design job) to try to get a feel for if I was the right person for the job.

I did the project, and also received a lot of help and feedback from my friend who works there and sent it to the creative director. He responded warmly, but simply said that he would let me know either way when they had made a decision.

I am getting nervous now, because I kind of thought I was a shoe-in, and if I don't get the job I will be pounding the payment to find something else for the summer (I teach during the school year). But my friend says that the creative director seems to be dragging his feet on making a decision.

I asked the Iching: "WIll I work for _______ this summer?" and received hexagram 44 changing to 32.

I have heard interpretations of line 5 before that make me think that the IChing is almost being snarky, saying "wait and see..you can't know what kind of melon is wrapped in the leaves." But line 6 really perplexes me. As far as changing to hex 32, it seems once again to not be answering my question but instead saying "hang in there." I would love to hear someone else's thoughts/interpretations on this. Thanks in advance for you thoughts!

Best,
Ariel

It's funny that no one ever responded to this. But just to follow up (8 years later?? lol) I did get that job. It was a very short gig though and wasn't really what I expected. In fact I think that they were just giving me the experience to be "nice" or something. I guess in the end it was good experience, but it was certainly perplexing to be hired for a temporary role and it being even more temporary than was originally communicated. Apparently they had someone else in mind to take the longer term temp role, and I was just filling in before she came. Later that summer I got hired at a dream job teaching design at a really good college though, which was even better experience.
