I asked advice about (Yi Jing inspired! ;)) collection of poetry and got 64, first four lines changing. I searched the forum and got to this thread: http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/frie...x-64-first-4-lines-moving&p=117576#post117576 , thought to myself - what a synchronicity!

Anyway, my challenges are somewhat different; i have a publisher already, it's that they are in another country and that's always a fuss; also, the collection is coming out in two languages, which is always complicated AND with illustrations (not mine) which is, like, a cherry on the top! There the artist is worrying sick how will the colors come out of the print. So, all in all, not an easy one, but to me, judging by hexagram 22, it does seem worth it:

Acc. to Wilhelm's translation:

Nine in the fourth place means:
Perseverance brings good fortune.
Remorse disappears.
Shock, thus to discipline the Devil’s Country.
For three years, great realms are awarded.

Now it is the time of struggle. The transition must be completed. We must make ourselves strong in resolution; this brings good fortune. All misgivings that might arise in such grave times of struggle must be silenced. It is a question of a fierce battle to break and to discipline the Devil’s Country, the forces of decadence. But the struggle also has its reward. Now is the time to lay the foundations of power and mastery for the future.

I am in one of those countries where authors are still fighting tough battles to protect their intellectual property , that's the main reason the publisher is from abroad; i did similar projects before and indeed it's not easy (far from that).

From Hillary's essay on Hexagram 22: "The name of this hexagram means 'ornamentation', and also 'brilliance'. The old Chinese character, LiSe tells us, shows a flowering plant - which is actually the perfect example of a being whose essential nature or function and outer appearance cannot be separated. (Which part of a wild flower is 'only ornament'?) This would have been at least as apparent to the ancient Chinese, who knew that a plant's appearance reflected its energetic and healing qualities.

So I'm happier calling this hexagram Beauty, and Making Beautiful. It's paired with Hexagram 21, Biting Through, which is about getting your teeth into an issue, absorbing and digesting it, and bringing out the essence. This is described as 'uniting': the teeth bite through obstacles and come together; people get through obstructions to come together with the truth, and with each other."

What do you think?

 Ok, i asked "why there isn't a single reply to the thread" and here is what i got:
Hexagram 60, Measuring, changing to 3, Sprouting
(Hilary's ) Key Questions:

"What limits apply here?
What agreements are at work?
Does everyone understand them and find them palatable? Do you?

Oracle

‘Measuring, creating success.
Bitter measures do not allow for constancy.’

Things need to be articulated to make them more manageable, easier to take in and work with. Such measures, when they grow organically, reflect the natural rhythms of life and allow a fuller participation in its flow. Progress is made in small increments.

Individuals with measure live sustainably and flourish; groups who share measures and standards, who speak the same language, can reach agreement and build trust. But if anyone reacts to the measures as they would to a bitter taste – if they find them too hard to swallow – then they are not sustainable. This isn’t a matter of tradition, principle or logic, but of human experience."

Aghh, i guess that either my post (question) is ambiguous - or i posted it in a wrong subforum... OR BOTH :duh:
Not coming out of gate and court, pitfall.
You have your own rhythm and pitch, but if you never play with others you may find yourself off-tune and not able to join in with songs anymore. Do not take habits and opinions (yours or theirs) for granted, but always stay open for the different and new.
(adopted from www.yijing.nl)

Could be it's because i don't reply to other's threads? (I don't feel i could add anything substantial, i do read a lot here, but i can't really contribute to the interpretations :((

changes to hexagram 3, Sprouting... well, hopefully, not all is lost yet, more so, it might even turn out to be - as it's said in the closing line of Casablanca - "the beginning of a beautiful friendship..." :bows:

Ok, i asked "why there isn't a single reply to the thread"

You haven't gotten a response because you didn't ask a specific question. I know because I attempted to respond to your thread. Best I could figure, your query is, "Advice about a collection of poetry?" And your response to Circe's thread is wishful thinking. You ignore the hard stuff and jump to a contemplation of beauty.

Thank you so much, pocossin! You are right, there isn't a question per se, i wanted to get a general insight into the situation. Sorry, i didn't understand this part, probably English as a second language moment: "And your response to Circe's thread is wishful thinking. " (If you are referring to the brevity of background info, trust me that it's not merely to sound cryptic...) Basically, the biggest concern with the project right now is how will the colors of the illustration come out from the print, the illustrator is preoccupied with that and it's creating quite a tension - that's why i was happy to see hexagram 22 in the first reading (in my understanding, among other things, it does refer to form.)
Once again, thank you for helping me in overcoming "difficulties in the beginning" :bows:

I love when readings we get say so loud and clear that Yi and us are at the same page. My impression is that your reading is one of those cases .

Its funny to read the Devil's country line .. like the Devil's of typography is your main concerns. ;) hex 22 as the illustration and the worries about it is so to the point ... interesting !!

I believe that overtime we create a very personal code language with Yi and in my own code 64 has to do a lot with the anxiety the way your describe it. probably they're is an issue there and illustrator's concern is based on something real although its not easy for me to understand why. Maybe an older fox around could assist, you and the illustrators, so you can assess the problem ? Someone who has an experience in the specific medium the artist uses and how to enhance or maintain it in a printed form ?

Thank you so much for commenting, anemos! I felt the same - as you greatly put it - that we are indeed at the same page! Oftentimes that suffices to me, even though i am not always able to get the reading in all its depth (who is? ;)), but mere casting of the Hexagram and reading the Book imho does have an actual impact on the situation! (OR, on my psyche somehow, and through that on the situation itself ;))

Yes, indeed! :D

Me too, i believe we do develop our own paradigms... I think it's a tiny line - still to feel/get the actual message, while adding a personal touch, without going overboard and fitting exclusively one's own ideas into the text.

Maybe an older fox around could assist, you and the illustrators, so you can assess the problem ? Someone who has an experience in the specific medium the artist uses and how to enhance or maintain it in a printed form ?
Spot on - there is indeed a mutual friend who totally fits the description! You nailed that one! I'd never thought of it myself - but now that you pointed it out, it does make sense! Thank you so much for your input, much appreciated!
