what do i need to know right now and Yi's answer, 31.4.6 to 53. I need help interpreting as i am new to I Ching

Hi my Mom passed away April 5 and I feel stagnate and unable to find any energy. I also found out from her that I had a different birth father from whom I thought was my real father who has passed before I could met him. I feel unmotivated in life and finding meaning even though I have family that cares for me and a successful business.

First and foremost, my condolences on the loss of your mother. I can very well imagine that this loss along with the information about who your real father is and that he died before you were able to meet him must be quite a shock. In a way you lose 2 parents in a short time, that must be very difficult.

I think the text of Judgment and Image of H31 already give clear advice on what to do in this situation.
"To marry a woman brings good fortune" woman is yin. Yin is about turning inward. So I would interpret this text as turning inward and connecting (marry) with what you feel. The text of the Image says "The superior person receives others because he is open to them."
So don't close yourself off to others, something that could easily happen when you feel unmotivated and don't see the meaning of this whole situation.

The text of the 4th line in light of communication and openness, can be seen as advice to talk to others about your situation and how you feel.

I would see the text of the 6th line as advice or perhaps a "warning" not to leave it at words, but to actually start doing something, for example to talk to friends and/or family members or seek professional help, but don't keep waiting for it to pass on its own.

H53 is called Gradual Development. The image is a tree (trigram Wind/Wood) atop a mountain (trigram Mountain). At the top of the mountain, the tree is exposed to all kinds of weather conditions, but nevertheless it continues to grow. Regardless of the difficult and painful situation you now find yourself in, you can come out of this gradually, provided you follow H31's advice.

Both H31 and H53 have Mountain as the lower trigram. This means there is a solid and firm core to this situation. This relates to you, your inner self, as well as the situation (a family that cares for you).

Trigram Lake changes to trigram Wind/Wood. Wind/Wood is about long-term, communication and perseverance. I think this speaks for itself. A grieving process takes time and patience and here again is the advice to communicate.

31 carries a sense of transformation and unseen activities going on beneath the surface. You feel that there is stagnation, and there is, however this state, when the time is right, can become a launch pad for a brighter more active and fulfilling way to live your life (53).
Right now you are guided towards, as best you can, emptying your heart and your world of all your sorrows. Know that, this will in time lead you to a place of greater acceptance of all things.

31.4 - Riding the emotional highs and lows, view what is happening in and around you with compassion and forgiveness.
31.6 - As much as you are able, take responsibility for your own recovery through speaking your truth.
