How can I find a new place to live? 44.1.3 --> 10 So desperate and confused

I have been desperately unhappy in my current living situation in New York City, and longing to move for the entire 5 months that I have been here.

I asked Yi, How can I find a new place to live? I received 44.1.3 changing to 10. I am really confused by this reading. Is this suggesting that I not yield to the temptation to move but proceed with caution?

Can you please help me understand the nuances of this reading?

(Backstory: I unwittingly ended up in an apartment where I hear every single thing that happens in the apartment above mine: footsteps, voices, TV, drawers opening, doors closing, etc. etc. The residents above me are always at home, and always active. I am profoundly distracted and distressed by this. I cannot relax, meditate, write, think, or dream. My sleep has been disturbed. Yes, I used earplugs, noise-cancelling headphones, and white noise machines. The noise from upstairs is the kind of noise you can feel (vibrations/shaking every time they take steps) as well as hear. The apartment is in what used to be a single-family home from 1900, so there is no real insulation/soundproofing between floors. I committed to this rental from out of state, and was told by the landlord it was quiet and would not hear neighbors. I have been looking for a new place to live since I got here, but it is hard with being a full-time grad student and also I'm just very wary about committing to a new rental unless I can be certain I won't find myself in this situation again. Also, the rental market in NYC is notoriously difficult to navigate. But I am desperate not to spend another semester here as I feel like my ability to do well in school was severely compromised by my living situation last semester. This means I want to move within the next month.)

You said that you'd like to move within the next month. I'm afraid it doesn't sound like you'll be super-favoured by luck for a move in January.

If you absolutely have to move, you'll need to be mindful of the smallest of issues at any new place that you view (44.1). Any small issue will become a big issue later, so make sure you observe closely. Line 44.3 shows that it's difficult to take steps and there's danger, so, I believe, another red flag that you'll need to be very careful. Resulting 10 says pretty much the same - watch your step, be careful when you're dealing with difficult people.

How about you try (or cast about) February? Maybe luck will be on your side then.

Thank you for your insights, Diamant! I am sorry for this late response. I took your advice and asked about moving in February (or March). I don't remember what hexagram I got, as it has been a few weeks, but I do remember it was more favorable.

Is the upstairs neighbour a loud, powerful, woman? Sometimes the Yi jokes - it may speak to your sense of intrusion, that the neighbours live with you. this can pollute your daily experiences.
Now H44judgement advises the prince to carry out his mandate and proclaim it all regions/directions. This to me says "look as far and wide and as thoroughly as you can, spread word of mouth" to carry out the prince's mandate (your higher self, your reasonable need for change and a quiet environment). I'd ponder on the image and the judgement bc you got 2 moving lines.
44.1 recommends that you avoid jumping back and forth in your thinking, decision-making process, at least in my experience. it could mean not jump from place to place too often neither staying too long in bad situation. A stressed pig can do a lot of silly things in both directions that's my take.
44.3 means that you're limited in your movement for some reason - bound by a contract? lack of money? Only YOU can tell what's up.
H10 as a context/relating hexagram seems to advise care in your next steps, attention so that you don't end up in similar situations. It could also mean that someone's walking on eggshells. Protecting yourself and your sanity is key here, when in doubt follow your heart and reason, the golden mean (middle path or path of least resistance) tends to help.
