seen that you read the unchanging line somewhere?

What I do is to examine the hexagrams as wholes, relate them to the spirit of the presentation, and reach a general conclusion. Then I look at the changing line for details. I cannot recommend this top-down approach to anyone else, because most have no definite ideas about the hexagrams and must depend on text. Your health is not good. A yin metal hexagram (metal = wealth = great havings) is changing to yin (Earth). This accords with the tone of your presentation, which is grief. You would not be asking this question if you did not have grounds for concern about your health.

Nine at the beginning means:
No relationship with what is harmful;
There is no blame in this.
If one remains conscious of difficulty,
One remains without blame.

Unhealthful habits should be stopped.

Nine in the second place means:
A big wagon for loading.
One may undertake something.
No blame.

The wagon is empty. This implies you have a deficiency.

Nine in the third place means:
A prince offers it to the Son of Heaven.
A petty man cannot do this.

Give up status activities that are harmful to your health.

Nine in the fourth place means:
He makes a difference
Between himself and his neighbor.
No blame.

Do not do things just to keep up with the Joneses.

Nine at the top means:
He is blessed by heaven.
Good fortune.
Nothing that does not further.

The top line is the line of the head. You have the smarts to do what is right to improve your health.

Theres many ways to deal with many moving lines, its an individual thing. IMO if 14.5 was your answer you would have cast 14.5. 14.5 is what the answer is not. Hilary wrote a blog post about 5 lines moving somewhere I will link to it if I can find it.

Here I would look at the sentence the 2 hexagrams make and not worry too much about the lines. 14 is virtually tipping into hex 2.

Together this reads as Receiving (2) Great Possession...(14) or maybe you can make the sentence another way about...play with it and see what it tells you.


Theres no point in newbies randonly using these 'rules' about which lines move...its confusing and you find your own way in the end anyway.

I see it as simply answer. You have (hex 14) a fertile field (hex 2)

It really isn't a worrying answer re health issues...it seems an open kind of reading perhaps stressing your body, your health is like a field (hex 2) what you give to it in terms of how you treat or use it makes this a better field, so its like you are in possession of a body (obviously) that is a gift to you (14) but use it well be generous to it (14)....er also it would seem good for pregnancy...but I don't know if you wanna go there lol


Overall its similar to what Toms post said which I'd agree with too.

I'm baffled by Hopexs progression from "how is my health" (with no feedback really ) then straight on to a thread about coaching a young man. Was good health needed to coach the young man ? Are we going to be enlightened about the meaning of this answer or is this thread already in the waste basket and on to the next 'issue'

Hi - thanks for everyones comments. I think it is Trojan asking how it all
relates which prompts me to reply. I have had a very physical job restoring
houses and with much driving and falls there seems to be problems with my
spinal column. Sometimes I lose power thats why I asked the Yi about this
precarious well being I am experiencing.

The young lad is actually the first client in my new healing/life mentoring
business. This is a less physically based job - helping and motivating people
so I hope as wounded healer to heal myself - thats how its all connected Trojan.

also the judgments advice of hex 30 and and hex 2

second line of 14..
Bear hardship without complaining, or take on heavy responsibilities and make contributions.
hex 30 and 2 are telling you to be submissive to line 2 of 14 and to work for it.
