For the past year I've had several dreams featuring the figure of my first love. I have now concluded that in the dreams she is representative of what Jung called the anima, or the feminine side of my own soul. I believe the dreams are telling me to get closer my own feminine side, that has been neglected over the past decade or more with a focus on materialism. These five examples of dreams I have had of this figure I think shows this :
1. She is disappointed in me and feels I lack depth (and some measure of constancy or subtlety)
2. I write a message to her about "Michael Germanus" (I find out after waking that Michael means "of God" and Germanus has etymological roots meaning "of brothers or sisters", "full, own", "true, natural, authentic" and "intimate friendship"). In the dream I think my message, sent by accident, is nonsense she won't understand, but she replies naturally to me and reveals things of herself and tells me she will write more later.
3. She looks at me and her look is full of meaning and her eyes read my pain to see we're not together
4. She is helping me mend something of mine that is broken. Later in the dream we are dancing together.
5. I have a bag of blossom and I'm brushing the blossom against my arms, and she is somewhere watching on distance
I believe my own soul is calling me to the spiritual dimension in these dreams. And as they progress I feel I am getting closer, compared to the first example when me and the dream woman were distant. In the very earliest dreams prior to that nothing at all was said or really remembered.
And hence my I Ching throw: I think to myself how may I now act in the world to begin to fulfil what I see as the message in these dreams, that I must develop this relationship with this side of myself. 39.1 seems to say actually now is not the time to do anything, due to obstructions at present? But 63 seems to be positive, as a future situation once the obstacle (inside me?) is gone?
