Blessings,

I would greatly appreciate your help on my healing, I got diagnosed today with hypothyroidism. I don't have much money currently but I'm going the holistic route! I'm inquiring about the recommendations of a Neurological Chiropractor which he'll give me tomorrow. I'm also planning on going to a homeopath for a second opinion but I have to be very discerning with which supplements to buy...I believe in the power of holistic medicine and by the grace of God I will be healed.

I asked the I-Ching: "What's the safety and harmony on me taking the supplements that Dr.Z will recommend?"

53.1>37

The wild geese gradually approach the riverbank. The young ones are in danger. There is talk. Without fault. Follow your intuition, your inner hunches. They will not give solutions, but they guide every step. You find your right future by a step and another step and on and on. ~Lise

"Air (thought) is more abstract than water (emotion); water is more abstract than earth (sensation). Of the three elements, earth is the most solid and the shore is where they all meet. As a creature at home in air, water or on land, the goose symbolizes a force which grounds an abstraction where it can be seen, grasped and understood. The young officer is inexperienced awareness coping with a new situation. "Danger" and being "spoken against" suggest confusion and conflicting emotions within the psyche as one deals with something new and unfamiliar. Remembering that the symbol of marriage in the Judgment relates to the union of thought and feeling within our physical vehicle, we can see that this first line represents a new synthesis of some sort.

A. Expect confusion and difficulty in coping with a developing situation.

B. Inexperience with new concepts necessitates careful differentiation of all the factors involved."

~DeKorne

...So is this directly talking about my situation, rather than the safety of the supplements...I'm very sensitive and I don't want to have adverse effects like a panic attack...as that has happened before when I took chinese herbs for imsomnia...go figure. It's hard to think clearly with the shock of all this...thanks in advance.:bows:

Do you include any seaweed in your diet?

Most asian markets carry the toasted variety.
It is quite tasty and is said to work wonders for the thyroid.
You can eat it instead of potato chips for a lightly salty snack.

Thanks for the info! I deepy appreciates!

Well I found out today that 53.1 must have meant to have a positive outlook, things are going to be alright just to be aware of any minor setbacks with the supplements. The Doctor today was brash and not socially graceful he was rushed and gave me a Vitamin D supplement that had soybean concentrate...soy in large doses is poison to the thyroid...so I had to request for him to recommend me another one. BUT the other supplement I felt was lovely and made my soul happy that I'm on my way to heal :)

Hi Gaia99,

Perhaps you should research 'Liquid Kelp' as a daily supplement if you by chance don't like seaweed (as Moss Elk suggested). Simply adding 4 drops in water or juice (and its tasteless) will improve your thyroid-balance. Also, Thyroid Complex at The Vitamin Shoppe is another recommended supplement. Of course you should run this by your Dr. to be sure that these holistic approaches are suitable for you.

All the best :)

Sorry for such a late response!

I would like to take the opportunity to explain hypothyroidism for you, just because knowledge is power.

When doing a simple blood test and looking at T4 levels and TSH levels, in a person has hypothyroidism, the TSH level is higher than normal range and the T4 level is either normal or below normal. Your thyroid produces T4. It only does so when prompted by the pituitary gland via TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone). In turn, the thyroid's output of T4 signals the pituitary gland to either keep sending TSH or to slow down. The less T4 your thyroid makes, the more your pituitary gland is going to continue to work hard an send TSH out.

I am all for holistic treatment as long as the treatment is effective. Usually patient's with hypothyroidism are prescribed a drug called Synthroid or Levoxyl. Those name brands are indeed costly, but there is a fabulous generic called Levothyroxine. It is literally a T4 supplement. It is used to provide the proper amount of T4 needed for the thyroid to properly function and ease the strain off of the pituitary gland. And honestly, it is so inexpensive that it will likely cost less than your copayment for a prescription.

Hypothyroidism is more common in women than it is in men. In fact, 1 in 1000 infants are born with hypothyroidism and of 4 infants born with it, 1 on average is male. Untreated, it can lead to inferility, weight gain, pubescent development problems (I'm sure you've gone through puberty), depression, heart disease and anxiety disorders.

Please have a talk with your physician or find a reputable endocrinologist. Discuss your options for a T4 supplement or any holistic treatments first before trying anything. Best wishes!
