I lost my cat. I have been going around my block looking for him. Finally found him. And he was limping. Funny how Iching described the situation. So I placed some food in front of him..he was at an empty lot across this very mean neighbor. I rushed back home to get my pet carrier. But as I was rushing back, she shouted at me for feeding strays. She had been eyeing me a lot in the past years. I stopped feeding strays at her street. And the strays knew where I live ..so not a problem. I can feed them there. This tomcat is my mom's. She couldn't take care of him.so I'm watching over him. And he just won't stay home. So now this lady is threatening to call the council to catch the strays. I'm just took my cat and went away. Now I'm worried about the strays and there are some of them are actually pets of other neighbors who happened to roam too. I asked Iching is she really serious about reporting?
The maiden is lame but can walk.. perfectly describes my tomcat..and the other line ..hermit constancy...?? Doesn't really say if she is threatening me without actually taking action. Her daughter actually came out with a camera and took a video of me carrying my cat away. Crazy neighbors.

I'm gonna try to guess here..but I still need help with interpreting. My guess is Iching is asking me to just lay low and not ever cross her path. Things will be alright. No cats will be harmed. That's my guess.. I don't know.

First of all, thank goodness you found your cat.

I don't have many thoughts about this reading. 54 is about someone dropped into an environment not of her choosing; who doesn't have power or influence; she's a subordinate, she's only there to make other people's lives easier; it can mean someone or something that's not a priority. A Marrying Maiden has to adapt and find ways to fit in and make this environment her home.

16 is about enthusiasm, imagination, motivation, story-telling, "making-ready," getting into a rhythm, intuition, hearing the music playing...

How do those interact? A way of trying to be 16-ish in a 54-ish situation?

-----

I wonder if the lines are advice to you to just keep doing what you're doing and pay no attention to the neighbor. She'll either call the council or she won't, and the council will or won't do something. You have no control over any of that, and you'll have to adapt to whatever might happen. That's 54-ish.

Not from the reading as far as I know, but are there any local animal groups who could help? For instance, is everyone spayed and neutered? That's really important, but also expensive. Few people can afford to spay and neuter a number of cats out of their own pocket, not to mention have place for them to recover from surgery etc. But there might be groups who are set up to help people manage colonies.

But the best I can get from the reading, and this is definitely guessing, is pay no attention to the neighbor and keep on with what you're doing.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to think of what you'd say to the council if they ever got in touch with you. That could be a marrying maiden making ready, I guess... this is guessing...

On the other hand, I see your point about lying low. It could be that the more the neighbor sees you with the cats, the more she'll be provoked into doing something.

But on the third hand, a hermit doesn't worry about what other people think, she keeps her own counsel. The cats need taking care of, you can't just stop.

I agree you shouldn't confront the neighbor, or engage with her in any way. That would be contrary to both a marrying maiden and a hermit.

I wish this reading was more clear to me, but it isn't.

Is she serious about reporting? 54.2.3 - 16.

I see 16 as representing an endless loop of people marching. Like 15. is one individual and 16. is a parade of all the individuals representing that life goes on endlessly, the human circus. So in this case I’m seeing this hexagram as describing a continuing cycle, the cat appears, followed by you feeding the cat, followed by her coming out and yelling, followed by you going away, followed by the cat going away, followed by the cat reappearing...

Anyway, the reading seems to suggest she will not go beyond taunting for now but I don’t think it says whether or not she might build up Enthusiasm to take it further eventually. Are the other cat owners aware of this problem with her?

Thank you All for your help. Yes majority of the strays have been neutered. I used my own funds. And a couple of neighbours told me that she is flaky and never gone as far as complaining to the council...yet. These things causes me so much stress. The shelters here are finding it hard to cope since the Covid 19 had impacted the economy. So I'm not gonna get help soon. Hopefully, something good will happen in the future. I do want to rescue the strays and keep them in my own shelter. Currently in talks with few other funders. Sigh. ..thank you all. I will keep feeding the strays.

Just noticed that 54 specifically says "Undertakings bring misfortune. Nothing that would further." I think you can rest assured that if she does she wont get very far.

Thanks Rosada. A little update . Something so strange and outrageous happened this morning as I was feeding the stray cats that came to my porch. The crazy lady appeared out of nowhere and handed me a bag. " Here's your dad cat! And walked away. I was literally dying. I was opening the stinky bag and this neighbor who has cats came rushing. He overheard what she said to me. And only to find a dead possum in the bag! My neighbor assured me that to just continue feeding and ignore her. And that she is crazy. She picked fights with every immediate neighbor's. Pheww. I knew it wasn't any of the strays but I was worried if it was a neighbors pet. So glad. Thank you all.

Isn't it interesting that neighbor happened to be there just at the right moment to swoop in and give you some support? Focus on that and know the angels are looking out for you!

Hello,

I'd say although the situation isn't ideal, you can do some things for the strays. You are alone, yet your act will be fruitful. The neighbors behave emotionally. Do your own thing.
