I have an upcoming work meeting during which I need to give a presentation. It's a debut - I've met only some of the invitees and am not sure about the reception of my intervention. In addition, during a recent occasion of this sort with another group of people, unexpected controversy was brought up which makes me a little nervous.

I asked:
Insight on the upcoming presentation?
43.1 > 28

This seems to refer to insufficient preparation (I've done my homework, and am now wondering if it is enough), excessive commitment (the presentation is about a plan which is not expected to change) and potential lack of support.

To clarify this casting I asked:
What's the best way for me to handle the presentation?
32.2,6 > 56

Permanence to Travelling, isn't is an intriguing dicotomy? The image of hex 32 says the superior man does not change direction, so I take it the presentation all in all should be alright. Line 2 admonishes again to be cautious and avoid excess  and line 6 points at restlessness and hurry as causes of misfortune. Should I approach the task with a calm, settled mind? Should I speak slowly :D This is one of those cases where the answer must be flashing in front of me and I fail to see it!

Any help in clearing my mind will be totally appreciated :)

Hey Cris,

I think youve hit the nail on the head with your interpretation of 43.1 , The preparation isnt there yet, your presentation wants to run before it can walk. it seems to also suggest that you know you deserve to be in a better position at work, that your hungering after a change. Yi i think is suggesting that you need to search different channels, broaden your awareness of your situation.

the fan yao 28.1 Hilary ''here at the beginning..you need to take great care, like someone who cushions their offering with layers of grass''

Maybe you need to focus on the beginning of this situation, the foundations of it, possibly you have overlooked something which needs your attention. I think Yi is saying here, make sure you have all your bases covered, and you know all possible outcomes.

To clarify this casting I asked:
What's the best way for me to handle the presentation?
32.2,6 > 56

i think 32.2 is simply stating that whatever this presentation is about has occupied your mind for quite some time, that you are focused on a big idea and that big idea is somehow to do with the past. I think Yi suggest you now must focus on the small details, the practicalities of this presentation, dont bring old thoughts to the table, instead focus on the little things that will make this happen in reality.

32.6 suggests your really bored with where you are, that you really want to get this over and done with so that you can get the job/promotion/position you really are capable of, but yi seems to be saying that you have to get through this presentation, with all of its boring details and the mud of reality to get where you need to be. A new position can only grow organically out of the old.

I hope this is somewhat helpful,

good luck with it ;)

Yx

Cris,

56 describes your relationship with those almost strangers you try to reach.

Maybe , what Yi advise is to "translate" you presentation into their language so you can communicate your 32 thoughts .

Sometimes 32 is not about keep your initial plan as it is but being flexible because actually what its important is to succeed on your objective your 32 course iow.
Staying on your course and being flexible do not contradict each other ...a t least not always.

Thanks so much Yxeli. You are spot on. Yes, I am tired, looking forward to a change, and all but thrilled about this meeting. The Yi has had me improve the presentation and put down a rough script I am going to rehearse. I hope this will spare me the 43.1 omen.

Thanks again

That's the image I immediately got from 56, Maria: feeling like a fish out of water.

In this context hex 32 still escapes me. Maybe I should try to deliver a message of continuity, progression, stability. And you are right, this cannot be achieved but through change, adaptation... As I've mentioned above, I have better prepared and put down the details, but I have a feeling I will somewhat have to play by the ear, which I'm usually capable of and may also help dissolve the feeling of alienation. Just sharing some random thoughts...

Many thanks for your insight

Interesting insight, Gato. I'm afraid it's too late to get help. Today I asked a colleague to quickly review the presentation (before the Yi driven improvements) and she said it was fine. I'll have to go with it and see how it turns out.

Thank you :bows:

It could be worse... You could look like this guy:p.

If I did no one would be paying the least attention to what I say during the presentation

No, seriously... I'll look at this pic every time I feel unhappy about my shape :D (see the other thread)

Cris, perhaps there isn't anything wrong with the material in the presentation. Maybe the Yi is suggesting you work on its delivery, spice it up a bit, and maybe throw a few jokes in there:)... work on your body language etc.... Couldn't hurt

Update

Ok, so I gave the presentation... which I had carefully revised, prepared for and even rehearsed... it all went smoothly. No thrills in the audience, but not even controversy. All in all this was an opportunity for me to note what I need to improve in my presentation skills, which I wouldn't have caught if it weren't for the Yi's warning. Still after the fact I have no idea what the castings referred to? I'll let you know if I find out! Thanks again everyone :)
