Hi everybody,

I saw an article recently about ideal and shadow hexagrams and thought I'd like to explore the idea further. I couldn't see though how the ideal hexagrams were arrived at (you get the shadow hexagrams by subtracting the number of the basic ones from 65).

Does anyone know anything about this please? I've googled for the subject but had to draw a blank.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying, I'll have a look at that later. To me this looks like a very valuable source of information.

Hi Graham_Giles
Stephen Karcher was an originator of the Ideal and Shadow aspects of I Ching.
If you'd like to hear it from the horses mouth then it's in the file named Ideal and Shadow at this link on his website.

This site is a veritable cornucopia for those who want to bathe in the delights of Stephen Karcher and contains extracts from his book I Ching The Symbolic Life.
